I installed this sensor in my son's 2010 honda accord in an attempt to get rid of the VTC and check engine light. After installation, both lights were still on.. the only difference was; now the car absolutely refused to continue running more than 3 seconds, the engine would go into limp mode because it thought the VVT controller wasn't receiving enough oil. I thought maybe the engine timing was the issue, so I decided I'd swap out the entire engine for one with lower miles. After doing so and reusing the VVT sensor "because I purchased it new" .. I felt confident that my boy wouldn't have any more issues and sent him home to drive away 1hr and 20minutes to his final destination. shortly after driving off, he complained that the car would not accelerate while he was on the hwy. I instructed him on how to safely get off the hwy and return home. Once he arrived home, we performed some troubleshooting, making sure after the newer engine was installed, we had returned everything back to the way it was prior to the switch. With a code reader I discovered a P1009 code ... which lead me to believe the VVT sensor I had resued from the old engine was the problem. I visited our local salvage yard and pulled a VVT sensor from a like model vehicle and installed it on the newer engine, bam ... the check engine light was off as well as the VST light and the car performed as it was suppose to. So before anyone goes and installs a entire engine thinking a newly installed sensor could not be a problem, re-think and only trust OEM!

Works perfectly solving problem fault code P1009 of valve timing advance remaining on at idle with hot engine which causes very rough idle. The original valve in a 2008 accord uses rubber seals between valve lands to prevent oil circuit cross feed. Seals shrink and get hard after 5 to 10 years so cross feed occurs causing intake cam not to retard. This new design deletes rubber seals and has larger lands like a transmission valve. Dorman did not invent the fix but their valve is very good and 1/2 the price of Honda valve.

Exact replacement, packaged well. Didn't fix my rattle on cold start up 09 Honda Accord. I had an oil leak from the old one too so it was worth trying this cheaper fix before having to replace the whole vvt gear
