Seems to work alright. Haven’t found anything yet but everything seems to be working fine. Rope appears strong enough and holds well. Put the supplied thread tight on the eyelets and seems to be holding well. Magnet appears to have some attractive power. Price was right on special.

A friend had a set of Fishing Magnets and highly recommended we get a set too. So glad we did! We live on a lake and I can't tell you the number of nails, pieces of metal, and several objects we couldn't identify that we've pulled out of the lake. The magnet itself is very strong and can attach and secure larger objects--excellent for rescuing items you've dropped in the lake. The rope is more than adequate in length and very strong. Not only do I feel better making our lake bottom safer for barefoot boys, it's a great activity everyone seems to enjoy. (Especially when the fish aren't biting.)

The strength of the magnet is determined by how much metal it attaches to. It comes off a fridge door or metal paneling on a car fairly easy. However, I wasn't paying attention and was magnet fishing off and iron bridge. The bridge was nearly a foot thick in certain places. It got stuck on the way up. My friend and I had to basically jerk it with all our strength at the same time to come off. We're both 200+ pounds and were also using most of our bodyweight. Another one got stuck and we had to use a mini crowbar to get it off. Be careful not to use the magnet on thick metal.

Bought this set along with two others from other suppliers to go magnet fishing with my 9yo daughter. We had a lot of fun finding random things and cleaning up the environment while we did it.This was the only one I bought that came with a grapple and it came in super handy pulling a shopping cart up from a creek onto a bridge.The carabineers that come with the kit are both not a great quality, and also magnetic, so they stick to the magnet. I recommend picking up a couple stainless steel quick links at your local hardware store and swapping them out. Other than that quite pleased.

Multiple test done in a controlled water setting (pool), pond/lake banks, off bridges ect as well as the same 25lb iron bar used in each. The pool test was fine. Magnet hooked on and it was an average of 70% of the pool test would hold and retrieve the iron bar. 30% the magnet failed. Ponds/lakes and bridges 100% fail. Dirt, and magnetic materials will stick and create further gaps between magnet surface resulting in failure.Overall, if your trying magnet fishing for the first time, and would be happy finding things like I have with this magnet, small objects such as old clothing buttons, watches, rusted screws nails small pipes. Other then really light objects, I would say this is only best to learn how to use a powerful magnet, thus when getting a stronger magnet you will know the do's and don'ts. The next magnet I've ordered is a Wukong 1700lb combined pulling force magnet. Well be here tomorrow, will test this as well. Not expecting much from it either but only way to know for sure is to purchase and try. I'd recommended this for beginners only.

not sure why amazon asks for "stretch, thickness and sturdiness" for a magnet but ok.It is smaller in person than you think, and a LOT smaller than what you see the dudes on youtube using.It does exactly what it is supposed to do and is very strong. the hook is also well made. the carabiner is also kinda cheap feeling
