This should be exactly what you expect for the price. Install was easy and everything fits very nice. The padding is thick and soft. It's a lil short and no forward or backward adjustment but it does its job which is take tension off your back.

Instant relief for my back as soon as I got on and leaned against it. Cheap upgrade to the stock seat and makes it so much more comfortable. I haven’t gone on a long ride yet so we will see how it holds up.

Purchased this backrest for my wife's V-Star 950.The really positive, she loves the comfort of the backrest, looks great on the V-Star, and It was easy to install, just follow the instructions.However, per the instructions, it states that after attaching the mounting bracket to the rear passenger seat and installing the backrest, if it feels loose or slides out too easy, wrap a piece of electrical tape around the backrest plate where it slides into the bracket. I did as the instructions said and it still felt loose, so I added another wrap of tape and it was too tight. I then re wrapped one layer of tape around the plate and slid it in the mounting bracket figuring that the company must know what they are talking about. Was not too impressed with the fact that you needed to wrap tape around a brand new bracket, thinking there should be a better way to ensure a tight fit. Spring mounted ball or something to lock in place??Unfortunately one layer of tape is not enough to hold the backrest in place when twisting. While twisting through the mountains, my wife was not leaning against the backrest as she was seated more forward for the twists we were riding, when she called across the intercom of her helmet that her backrest had come lose and she was holding it with her back. Luckily we quickly found a place to stop. I had to secure the backrest with a bungee cord for the rest of the ride.Again this could be an awesome product for the money if there was a better way to secure the backrest to the mounting bracket.Its very concerning that if your not leaning against the backrest it could slide out and go rolling down the road.

This back rest needs improved… I bought one after having a txt conversation with the owner, I asked the person if they had any issues with this backrest bending. the person assured me that they did in the past but have improved the back rest since then. I received mine today . The bracket that goes underneath the passenger seat, the bolt slots are flat so when you put the nuts back on it will not be aligned properly. There needs to be a bend in that area, this is a safety issue. Next complaint, the bracket mount under the passenger seat is not as advertised. It sticks out just far enough that when I sit on the bike without the backrest on it hits my tailbone. It hurts. The next issue is the carbon steel is so weak that it bent the first time I used it, I only weigh 170 lbs and I didn’t lean on it hard. Al in all, I’ll probably return it. Not worth the money. It’s almost impossible to get your 10mm x1/4” drive socket on the bolts to re install the passenger seat.

I'm Happy. Works well on my 09 vstar 950. Install was pretty simple. Looks good and feels great on my lower back. Would recommend.

Longer rides are more enjoyable now ! A backrest might sound like a gimmick but take a look at serious riders bikes, they have a backrest! I've had my yamaha 950 for 3 years, put a lot of miles on it and wished I had some lower back support when riding more than 20 miles. Seating position is good but tends to make you slouch over time. I looked around, saw a few backrests I liked but the prices were more than $250. I saw this one, read the reviews and said let's try it. I am glad I did!! Yes the mounting bracket isnt perfect, yes it shortens up riding position a little, but wooaaawww it is sooooo comfortable! Installed in 60 minutes, enjoying it greatly. Will it hold up over time ? Yep I think so. Worth more than the price I paid ! I am very happy.
