I've been meaning to try out this 125mm diamond grinding wheel for ages, sorry Amazon!I have a metal door into my garage that always seems to catch on the concrete floor and make an awful racket when opening or closing. The hinges on the door are not adjustable so removing some concrete from the floor beneath the door was the only option.I fitted the disc to an angle grinder and started on the floor, the disc removed the concrete very quickly from the area to a depth of 2-3mm, from start to finish was just a few minutes.Apart from eye and hearing protection another thing to take into consideration is the amount of dust generated so make sure you have a dust mask to wear or some way of removing the dust from the area being worked on.How long the disc will last still remains to be seen, but at the price seems good value.

Update of previous favorable review. The 5” disk cut down the high spots of the existing floor leveling compound pretty fast initially. We did get quite a bit of mileage out of this disk before we noticed pronounced vibration from the grinder, and the cutting surface of the disk had worn very unevenly. Cutting efficiency speed had also lessened. Finished the project with a known brand purchased from the hardware store at three times the cost. One of the claims of the brand disk is that it is a balanced wheel. In comparison between the two wheels, we only used the second wheel minimally before we finished the job. They both ground down the surface fast and with minimal vibration at the onset. Not sure how the brand wheel will do with extended usage

I used this to grind the old tile cement off the floor before installing a new tile floor. It worked well and beat doing it with a hammer and chisel. Would recommend.

Fits a grinder with a 22mm shaft, just make sure your grinder isn't a really weak one because it'll struggle to spin this up ... it weighs a fair bit. Once it's up to speed though it just ate through the concrete I wanted to shave off some paving slab that I want to repurpose. I lifted the slabs from when the previous owner had concreted them into the ground as a platform for a metalwork bench. I need to remove the bench and the slabs were actually granite. I fitted the cutting disc and went to work grinding down the concrete edges and it just ate through them.I'd suggest using these outdoors because there was a ton of dust, but that's true of any grinder masonry discs. What is good is the vented disc expels the dust without clogging the cutting surface.Seems like a very robust and decent bit of kit. I'd have likely tried the concrete off with a cutting disc, but this grinding disc was a much better option. I was even able to chamfer the granite edges for a cleaner look. Again this disc coped well without issue.Happy to have it in my toolkit. Disc looks unfazed by the use too.

This fit well on my angle grinders. I used it to smooth out concrete paver blocks I used to build 3 patio areas. As with all of these, it does produce a lot of concrete dust so best to wear all the protection (eyes, nose, mouth, and ears) when using it. Easy to use and works well.

The broad sweep of the 7” cup-wheel acts as a natural leveler when smoothing a wide area. The large disc also makes it harder to accidentally gouge the surface you’re smoothing. However, if you are needing to do more significant, select removal of material to deal with, say, a large irregularity in the surface you’re working, the natural leveling and anti-gouging properties of this tool’s dimensions may make it a little more difficult to dig into the surface you’re grinding. This large cup-wheel will be difficult to use for digging into the stone the way I am used to using my smaller sintered wheels. —My suggestion would be to first use a smaller 4” or 5” sintered cup-wheel, where you can exert more pressure & leverage to dig in and alter the profile as needed. …And then follow up with this large 7” cup-wheel to plane it smooth and flat.I first used this cup-wheel on a smaller stone carving project, to flatten an irregular surface. On that small testing, I was very pleased with its performance. And I look forward to upcoming larger projects where I can really put it through its paces.*Note: I made the assumption, but should say it explicitly… I highly recommend using a VARIABLE SPEED grinder for this 7” cup-wheel. I’m not finding a ‘recommended speed’ on the tool specs, but unless I had a monster heavy grinder and was wearing full body armor, I personally would not want to use it anywhere near normal grinder speeds (10,000 rpm). Maybe that’s just me, or my usage. I’m a stone artist, so I’m using it on stone objects on a bench, not leveling a concrete floor. Normal variable speed grinders can run as slow as 2,000 rpm. For my initial test, I used this cup-wheel on granite, using a polisher/sander which can turn at even slower speeds. I probably ran it at 1,000 rpm, but I was finessing a small project. I’d say use a grinder that can turn at speeds that make you feel safe and in control.

A properly balanced cup surface grinding wheel should cut smoothly and without chatter. This (admittedly cheap) wheel isn't balanced and chatters and vibrates terribly, even when used with a dedicated surfacing grinder. Megatron (made in Korea) and Bosch wheels cut smoothly and controllably at all times. Spend a bit more and get a better brand.
