The old version of this boot has a vent in the back and vertical seams on each side. I ordered 4 boots from the same seller and got 3 without the vent and one with the vent. 30 days in and the one with the vent is coming apart at the seams on both sides. The ones without the vent are holding up well. The boots themselves are wonderful for the horse - 30 year old trying to founder, and he acts completely normal with the boots on. I bought 2 pair, and trade them out daily. The ones that come from get washed out with the hose because mud gets in and dries out inside the boot. Only way to get it out is to wash it. They sit out all day and dry out - if it is raining or damp, I use a boot dryer to let help them dry out (I saw that in another review, and it works well). I have sent the one that is coming apart back for a replacement and hope they send me the one without the vent. Hard to know how to rate this - the ones without the vet get a 5 star. The one with the vent gets a 2 star. Note that there is a break in period with these. They stink to high heaven the first week or so - get some Gold Bond powder and use a lot of it.Update: After using these for a couple of weeks, these started really irritating at the coronet band. I took them to a shoe repair place and had a solid piece of soft leather put in to cover the seam. It helped a lot.

My barrel horse has to have his coffin joint injected annually and sometimes he paws while standing toed at the trailer so just guessing the two are correlated and he gets uncomfortable standing on hard ground for an extended period of time. A friend recommended these boots because she uses them on her horse and said he loves them. I measured my geldings feet the next time my farrier came to trim & reset his shoes to make sure I’d get the accurate size then I ordered a pair. Happy to report that we’ve been using them for two weeks now and my gelding absolutely LOVES them! These are extremely easy to put on & take off. He wears them while hauling & anytime he is standing tied or in his stall. So far he has not been pawing and he seems very comfortable & content wearing them. I’m so impressed, I’m going to buy a pair for each of our other performance horses!

UPDATE: I just ordered a second pair of these. It took three years of on/off use, even doing some light riding around the property, in them, before they finally wore out.I have a horse with easily bruised super thin oles and I am constantly dealing with abscesses. If you do too, you know what a pain in the butt it is to duct tape protection to the bottom of a hoof while an abscess heals and how quickly you need to redo your bandage job. THESE THINGS ARE ABSOLUTE LIFE SAVERS AND THEY STAY ON UNTIL YOU TAKE THEM OFF (as long as you get them in the right size).My horse LIVES in these things every day. He has gone from hobbling around on ouchie feet, to moving freely and comfortably. I know they are not for everyday use but I have used them pretty much non-stop on his feet since I bought them four months ago. I take them off for farrier work and to clean them, then I put them back on. They are holding up well for the amount of use they have gotten and will be a constant in my tack room. I intend to look into the riding boots cuz if these medicine boots stay on this well, I feel the riding boots will be well worth the investment. They clean up easy too.

Love ❤️ this boot- have been using it on my mare recovering from laminitis- graduated wedge inside the boot supports frog, taking pressure off sole- my mare is comfortable moving around with this wonderful well-designed boot- boot cleans up easily with hot water, tough durable construction, opens easily front and back to put foot into boot-Excellent value for the money

My horse could barely walk because of laminitis. She took to these boots immediately and helps me put them on her. The fit was perfect. But measure carefully folks. Now she is going for short walks and was let out for an hour today. These are holding up beautifully but I clean them out everyday for sand and other debris. Plus she looks adorable in her sneakers!! LOL so great to be able to bring some comfort to my horse.

My 23-year-old horse has laminitis and these boots were an alternative to trying expensive reverse shoeing. He’s always been barefoot and I figured he would be more comfortable barefoot and wearing these for walks than trying reverse shoes. Sure enough, a combination of great hoof trims and these Clouds seem to work for him. He hand-walks freely and comfortably on the paved roads in these. Before I bought these, he’d stop at the end of the driveway and give me the look that says “sorry mom, no can do walking on concrete”. I did try leaving them on his stall but he chewed on them. Luckily they still work fine and will hopefully last through his recovery.

I bought two of these boots for my QH Mare, who had laminitis and she adjusted to them very well. My Vet recommended these and I would buy anything to help her get well. The fit/size was perfect after my farrier measured her front hooves and they are a solidly made product. I would highly recommend these to any horse owner! The support it gives her while she is stalled and recovering is my concern and these boots proven to go the distance with her. I clean them with baby wipes which I found works the best, let them air out for a day and put them back on her. I have used a second set of easyboot cloud inserts, which conform to her hooves and would buy both products again!!
