I've had this scale for exactly a year now, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's accurate, quick to use, super simple without any unnecessary or confusing features, and looks pretty good too for what it's worth. The screen is bright and the numbers are pretty easy to read. I use it almost every day, and I haven't had to change the battery it came with yet.The only concern you might have is that the top surface is glass and can potentially be slippery when either it and/or your feet are wet, like if you just came out of the shower, or if it got steamy enough in the bathroom that it's developed a little condensation. I've never slipped, not even close, but I would probably be more comfortable giving a plastic-topped model to an elderly loved one. I'm probably being over-cautious, but it's something to keep in mind. Its little feet are quite grippy, so I wouldn't worry about it sliding out from under you.

Easy to use, incredibly accurate, and bright clear digital display. This scale is awesome. I use it daily. I prefer pounds, but it can also be set to kilograms and "stone." Who in the world uses stone though? What a ridiculous unit of measurement.Anyway. Buy this scale for the pounds and kilos. It's great! Highly recommended!

Slightly too expensive for comparative products in the market

Update:I'm impressed, I got a call from owner himself (Bill) to help me resolve issues I had with my scale - I've never had this kind of excellent customer service with products that I have bought. For such a low priced item this small company goes out of their way to keep customers happy - kudos to them!If you're looking for a good scale for your money, this one is it. I've had an unfortunate experience early on with its precision reliability but seems like I might have been demanding too much from a bathroom scale. (The scale has 0.2 lb resolution but seems like bathroom scales don't always have that 0.2 lb accuracy.) Make sure that your batteries are relatively new and that you tap on it to "zero" it if you're having issues of the scale showing unexpected weight. Put it on a hard surface (I have wood flooring but I put my scale on a large hard granite tile and I don't move it). The loadsensors in this unit may have "memory" so if two people with very similar weight get on it, second person might not see much (or any) difference - this might be a common characteristic among digital scales.Original review:I have been using this bathroom scale since early February 2014, I bought it from Amazon. It has average precision & resolution (0.2 lb) and it worked great for the first two months. Starting with mid-April, I started noticing that the fraction reading was quite off (for example, first it would tell me 186.2lbs and then after a few seconds if I weighed myself again, it would tell me 186.8lbs.) Things started getting worse after April, I would have to "zero" it often. I am an Electrical Engineer working in medical devices industry with load sensors so I have a very good knowledge on them. They all degrade over time, some slower than others depending on how they are made and material used. But the software in them is supposed to measure the DIFFERENCE using "zero"ed weight so that it would still work decently. This particular scale is rated for up to 400 lbs and I'm not even half of that so it is hard to believe that my weight deformed the load sensor that much in only a couple of months. Essentially its been a dead-weight for the past 6 months because the weight reading is very unreliable, even after using brand new batteries. I went back to using mechanical scale which doesn't give me same resolution but at least I can reliably compare current weight against yesterday weight. This unit was only $30 dollars (cheap) and it lasted 3 months so I'm not sure if I'm too disappointed with it. If it had lasted at least 6 months I'd have been very happy with it, mechanical quality/large LCD with backlight/etc are quite nice. Just their "auto-calibration" and "calibration" are lousy, not sure if its because of their software or because of load sensors.

[EDIT: 5/17/11]: After leaving my initial review, I was immediately contacted by the wonderful staff of the EatSmart team. The vice-president himself reached out to make amends for the lemon that I had received. Now that, my fellow consumers, is true customer service and dedication to their products. I was shipped a new bathroom scale with no hassle and no questions asked (except whether or not I would mind receiving a new scale!). The new scale arrived promptly and as far as I'm concerned works like a charm. I rigorously tested it on all smooth surfaces in my house for 4 days (and what do you know? the batteries that came with it worked this time!). The scale is beautiful, no non-sense, practical, and accurate. What else is there to say? Except that I love my scale, and even more so, the truly stellar customer service that comes from the EatSmart team.----------------------------------------After looking at many different scales, I had decided to purchase this scale based on its numerous positive reviews with the intention of using it to help track my pursuit of a healthier weight. Now that I've had the EatSmart Scale for almost a month, I'm starting to think I received a lemon. My first indication was that the batteries that it came with did not work. After I popped them in, the screen didn't turn on. I thought perhaps I inserted the batteries wrong. Checked it twice. Popped them out and back in, stepped on, and nothing happened. Thank goodness I had extra batteries at home. After I replaced the batteries that came in the packaging with fresh ones that I bought the scale turned on. Sending dead batteries? Not the best first impression, but worse things have happened.I began to test it, and it worked flawlessly. Stepped on, then waited for the "C" to appear for it to calibrate, then stepped again for a measurement. I ended up transferring the scale to four different locations in my house (all on smooth hard surfaces), and each time it recalibrated, as it should, and gave me the same reading (139.2, 139.2, 139.2, 139.2). I was thrilled.Third week in however, I had apparently lost 4 pounds. I thought this was rather fast, so I decided on a whim to retest if the scale was still precise. To my utter disappointment this time, when I shifted the scale around the house, it not only didn't recalibrate, it gave me a different reading each time. 135.0, then 134.6, then 134.6, then 135.2, and then, after a 5 minute break, 135.0 again. (The first four test were in rapid succession, no change of clothes, no intake of food or liquids, only change of location, so the scale should have given consistent readings. The 5 minute break was me walking around my house, giving it some time before I stepped on again).I'm not going to give it just one star (though I must admit I was sorely tempted), after all, an inaccurate scale is essentially a useless scale. However, I will give the product the benefit of the doubt that perhaps I did receive a lemon, obviously other customers have had better experiences than me. I think it would be a grossly unfair if I were to just slap it with one star. I'll give it another for simply the fact that the seller did ship it quickly, and that the design of the product is really quite decent. I love the tempered glass and the digital screen is very easy to read.Unfortunately, I will be trashing this item (contacted Amazon customer service, and they do not do returns on Health and Personal Care products) and will be searching for a new scale.
