Yes, ECPPP recommends replacing all componentsof the timing system at the same time. The useof worn sprockets may cause the chain to fail tomesh with the worn sprockets, resulting in poorengine performance.

Chain seemed to have a little more slack than it should.Chain broke after driving not even 20 miles.Can’t return. Bought last year and I just installed 8 months after buying chain.

Purchased this gear and chain set to replace the original on a 5.8 which had 130000 miles and a little slack. Installed new gear and chain set and it had 3 times the slack the old chain had. Took off and inspected and the individual links were poorly made and had excessive play compared to worn out OEM chain. Gears looked okay but could be part of the problem. This is a lot of work on a E250. Can't take a chance on inadequate replacement parts. Frustrated Master Tech.

The timing chain and sprockets fit but the crank sprocket was a little looser than the sprocket that was removed. The whole set up looks a little less stout and its louder than stock. Overall while a silent type chain would of been preferred but i'm happy the price and getting rid of all the slack that was with the old chain.
