This is a large vessel. In SE Texas we get heavy rains and most homes don't have gutters. I bought this to place where the water runs from my roof. It works like a charm....filled in less than a week of heavy rains. The hose outlet at the bottom is very convenient, great to attach a short hose for filling watering cans. We are on water restrictions, my plants will love this. One note, there is a thumb hole on the lid covering the rain barrel and mosquitoes could definitely get in to lay eggs. I solved this with a cork. After it rains I put the cork in to keep bugs out.

Took this out of the box when it arrived. The box was pretty banged up and no protection for the barrel inside except for a large plastic bag. Part of the spigot was missing. The spigot and parts were just put inside the large plastic bag around the barrel and were loose. The bag was torn up and with the tape coming off the box flaps, it is very possible the part fell out of the box in transit. Also, the color is very weird - kind of like a brownish yellow with a bunch of rainbow sprinkles thrown in. It does not look the least bit like sandstone. Wish I had taken a picture before I returned it. We put in back in the box with the loose parts now secured in a baggie and taped inside the barrel and returned it within 2 hours of receiving it.We did like the shape of the barrel since it was something different but the rest of it was a disappointment. Also, Amazon shows that it still has not been delivered to our house and that was 2 days ago.

Nice looking rain barrel. Brand new, out of the box, installed it, filled up with rain water, slowly leaking out of the seams on the side of the barrel. So basically useless if it can’t hold water and not an easy thing to fix.

Got the barrel set up, cut the downspout to match the height, everything was in working order. First rain came and the barrel was completely full of water. Went to work, came home, checked the barrel and it’s almost empty. I started looking around the barrel and found a leak. Went to the product page and found the advice listed is basically “fix it yourself.” I would absolutely recommend going with a different brand.

Too soon in the season to deploy the barrel. However, it arrived intact and holds water... :-) . Many reviews comment on a slight rock when on a flat surface and also an inferior tap. I purchased expecting to adjust for the tendency to rock back and forth (one set of feet has a slight ridge), and to replace the tap. Pleased so far and will update once deployed.11/16/2023 - A full year in service. The barrel has performed as expected. FYI - I DID replace the tap. Not because the original failed but because of flow rate and the valve design. As a barrel, it delivers. To all those silly people that think they can leave water in any container, over winter in Canada, and not risk damage - think again. Drain your barrel through the bung hole in one of the feet, and store inside or upside down.

I have ordered a total of 5 of these rain barrels. They look great, I've received lots of compliments. The concept is great; with "screened" removable top, faucet and a drain plug. The big problem is out of the 5 I have had an issue with 3 of the faucets. The faucet workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. One leaked (pictures) so I will have to reseal it, that is after I replace it because it does not work, water flow is a dribble and will not shut off. One of the other 2 also has to be replaced, the 3rd one I was able to repair. If you are up for working on the faucets, and want the good looks, by all means buy one, otherwise just decorate a trash can and use it.

Buyers beware! This rain barrel split along the two-halves seam in the first year. I repaired that seam and have had to do so every year thereafter. This year, the repair(s) held but the plastic/resin/PVC ripped out and tore on the bottom beside the glued seam and along two of the four base feet. This rain barrel CANNOT take any sort of freeze/thaw cycles and obviously must be drained and stored inside over the winter (contrary to the manufacturer's own proclamations). Whatever you do, don't waste your money. Far better to buy a sturdy plastic garbage can. This product is absolute junk--and look at the price! I'm quite upset that I wasted so much money and now have to shop for a quality, well-manufactured rain barrel. Avoid KoolScapes products. Ensure that any rain barrel you buy isn't simply two halves glued together.

Great looking design and matches the ceramic tile walls in my atrium. I ordered a 75 gallon barrel about 4 years ago and recently ordered two 55 gallon units. The design of all three are identical. Would have rated this barrel higher if it didn't have the following minor problems. 1. I always change the faucets to a ball valve type because the faucets installed (washer type) are designed with a smaller exit area and water flow is too slow. Both the washer and ball type faucets are designed for an operating pressure of about 80 psi and the flow is much slower with the low water pressure exerted by the barrel water levels. The ball gives a little better flow and is less apt to become clogged from any debris. 2. The design is made so that the barrel sits on a four legged base and each leg is not the same length. All three barrels are like this except the latest two barrels have a greater difference in leg length. There is a difference of 1/2 inch and the barrels rock just like a 4 legged table with one short leg. This is not a problem if the barrel is placed on the ground rather than a concrete slab or other hard surface because it is easy to adjust the soil to make up for the shorter leg. It would have been better if the barrel was designed with a three legged base (like a tripod) so that it does not rock back and forth on a hard surface. It would also have been convenient. to have levelers on at least two of the legs. One outstanding feature is that the UV radiation in sunlight does not affect the color or degrade the plastic material. The only affect I see is the loss of shininess of the 4 year old barrel when compared to the new ones but I prefer the barrels to be less shinny. I consider both of the above problems to be minor and would buy them again or recommend them to others. If I was able to talk to the manufacturer, I would recommend using 3/4" ball faucets (larger opening than the 1/2" ball faucet) on the 55 gallon barrels and redesigning the base to have a three legged base. Was pleasantly surprised that the packaging size did not affect the outstanding delivery time.

This is fantastic. I researched so many and each had at least one complaint, either the connections had to be replaced, leaking, bulging, etc., etc. When I found this, no critical comments, all good. I received it, cute the way it is delivered, big plastic bag, take home, set out and ready to go. Nothing to do, sits level, works great. I do not have gutters, but the water comes off the roof and hits the opening perfectly, used the faucet to fill bucket, worked great. No leaking, stable sitting on grass, though I will place it on stones to raise it up and allow better flow. Very pleased and printed the information off and gave to my new neighbors, they are going to purchase one. Color is good, have gray siding, this coordinates.
