Product Description

Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology.

EISCO Scientific manufactures and supplies lab equipment for education and industry. The company, founded in 1968 and headquartered in Rochester, NY, meets International Organization of Standardization (ISO) standard 9001: 2000.

EISCO LABS TRUST LEARN DELIVER science physics biology classroom teaching education products school

Eisco Scientific started over 50 years ago as a small, family-owned manufacturing company serving the science education marketplace. Since then we have grown into a multinational corporation with headquarters located in both India and the United States that serve hundreds of distributors in over 100 countries throughout the world. Our mission is simple; to be TRUSTED by educators, researchers, and scientists throughout the world to design, manufacture, and DELIVER products that allow LEARNING and the development of scientific knowledge.

We produce over 6,500 unique product lines for the science education and scientific research markets. Our core product lines include:

  • PhysicsWhether you are studying forces and motion or Schrödinger’s wave equation, we have the apparatus and experiments you need to study those topics and everything in between. Our business started with physics and these products remain a strong product line today.
  • Chemistry & Lab SuppliesIt takes a lot of supplies and equipment to study chemistry. It has been said that if you tipped a chemistry classroom upside down, everything that falls out that is not a chemical is a product we manufacture. That includes beakers, burners, tongs, and anything made of glass, plastic, metal, ceramic or cork.
  • BiologyWe provide everything a biology classroom needs except for the specimens. Our product line ranges from hundreds of anatomical models, to dissecting equipment, to microscopes and slides.
  • GlasswareWe manufacture every piece of glassware you can find in a lab. Our glassware meets various international standards, including ISO and ASTM, and is made from borosilicate 3.3 glass.

For science or otherwise, this is hard to put down and well engineered. Edges are slightly bevelled as described, and the piece is crystal clear. This will likely have a permanent home on my work desk, 5 stars.

UPDATED REVIEWI returned the original damaged block for a replacement. When the new one arrived, it was just as thoroughly packaged and protected as the original one was. And, it was in... somewhat better shape. It wasn't chipped. There were far fewer scratches, and they weren't as deep. But it was still very far from the perfection you'd expect from an optical item, particularly considering the great care taken in packaging it. I honestly don't understand what could be wrong with their manufacturing and shipping process. What I have is adequate for class demonstrations, and that's about it - certainly not suitable for any serious lab work or measurements of any kind. And given the unreliable and unpredictable quality range, I can't recommend this - give something else a try, it's unlikely to be worse and could very well be better.ORIGINAL REVIEWNot only did this glass refraction block have a noticeable chip in the corner, but also large scratches in the center. This is odd, because it was very thoroughly packaged in protective paper, plastic bag, cardboard box, bubble wrap, another cardboard box... I don't think it was damaged in transit, but rather, during manufacturing.I'm going to send this one back and request a replacement. If that one is better, I'll revise this rating, but I see others have also reported receiving damaged merchandise, so if you don't have time to mess around with returns, you might be best served by a different choice.
