The needle radius is too small, and the needles are too flimsy and thick to work as it should. You end up either just pushing the coffee around or needing to stab it from above to do the job, which can have the undesirable effect of pushing some of the grounds through the holes of the portafilter. It has been working just "ok" ... and the magnet is strong. Therefore, two stars ... but now that I see other, better-looking options on the market offering an adjustable needle angle / radius AND magnet (for quick storage on the nearby fridge) for only $10, I will be buying a different one.

I am still not sure what the benefit of this tool is but for those who believe it is useful, it does the job as intended and seems to be well made.

I’m not sure if I’m being taken for a ride when it comes to gullibility regarding everything ‘Barista’ but hey I’m happy to be taken along for the ride when goodies like this come my way. I’m a newbie when it comes to the ways of all things Barista espresso etc coffee so I’ve only just learned what a portafilter is. So does using this item help produce an even better resulting coffee? I have no idea but I’m willing to go along with the idea of being a coffee ‘geek’. I love using fine tools, this being a fine fine looking tool, if that is the right use of the word. It makes me feel good in the morning using such finely crafted tools…and that goes for the coffee machine I’m going to invest in shortly. This coffee distribution tool is a beautifully crafted item with a beautiful magnetic silver holder of several long needles that you separate and stir coffee granules within a portafilter. Why is it magnetic? So it can stick to a coffee machine, preferably of silver looks! Well you gotta have style! Ha! The handle is made of a good grade aluminium alloy, with food grade stainless steel needles. You get two spare needles which were magnetically held against the handle. A wonderfully artistic looking tool fit for fine coffee making. Hey it only costs £8.99, so it’s not a lot of money to spend on my way to becoming a ‘Barista’ with my (pretentious?) collection. If I was looking for something negative, I’d say the only thing is the box that it arrived in. A plain white small rectangular box! Come on, at least make it a little more exciting when anticipating what is inside the box! The box is definitely not of a Barista style class of quality! But then the cost of this stirrer is very low I suppose. Four stars.
