After seven years of reliable service, my Eureka Mighty Mite model 3670G started to grumble and smelled like an electrical fire. I was glad to see that a replacement motor was available on Amazon. But there were two problems. This motor is not a direct replacement for the 3670 type G-4. The vacuum impeller housing is a larger diameter than the original. But I was able to adapt it to the plastic recess by using some adhesive backed weather stripping. Then I wired it up and started it before reassembling the plastic housings, to make sure everything was OK. The motor started, but it was like the fourth of July: sparks flying everywhere from the brushes. And one of the two brushes lit up like an arc lamp, brilliant white light. That brush got really, really hot and smoked. My whole house smelled like an electrical fire. I thought that maybe the commutator needed cleaning, but that didn't help. I thought maybe running it for a while would reduce the "arc lamp" and sparking. But it didn't help, it just got worse. So I returned this $50 motor and bought another Mighty Mite for $70, just twenty more bucks for an entirely new machine. So much for aspirations of economy.

This was used when I got it. I could tell by the carbon brushes in the motor. Was no better than the motor I was trying to replace. It through out sparks when powered up. I had to return it.
