The tensile strength of the plastic retainer that fastens to the mower handle is considerably less than the OEM part from TORO. This one was bending under the spring torsion on the cable. Very hot day in the low 90's making the plastic all that more pliable and failed about halfway through mowing the lawn. The OEM part that I purchased from a TORO dealer does not do this.Thank you Amazon for excellent return process.

The plus: cable was easy to install. The minus: Unfortunately the cable snapped from the Z clip (the solder job on the z clip holding the wire didn't hold) and I didn't get through the first mowing of my lawn with out it breaking.

I ordered a part directly from TORO but it was not the exact part my mower came with - but this one is surprisingly. I did have to bring it to a dealer to get it installed,( there is a video on youtube but it was too difficult for me to execute as i have no power tools to undo the nuts and bolts) but i love my mower - it gives the best cut of any of my other mowers including the John Deere and Husqvarna so I am happy to have it up and running again, even thought it's 16 years old now.
