As an electronic engineer, I know these work very well. But only for the interference they are designed for. And if you don't have the equipment to tell you, your purchase is a matter of luck. All I can say is your guess might prove right. My guess was wrong but I don't regret the investment. And the core remains in where I installed it for a day the right interference shows up.

I attached one of these to an XLR cable going into my studio monitors to reduce RFI. These do not work as intended - I can still hear interference.I know that my monitors are not the problem because I hear the interference in both of them. I also know it's not a problem with the cables because I've swapped them with another pair - still get the same issue.

I Love to Listen to One of My Favorite Radio Stations in My Vehicle when I'm Not Listening to My iPod.My Vehicle has HID Headlights and they have a Ballast for Each HID Bulb. When I turn On My Headlights, I get a Lot of Static Noise coming through My Radio because of the Interference that the HID Ballasts Cause.I have found out that When getting these Ferrite Core Noise Suppressors and installing them on the Headlight Wires just After the Plug, the Radio Interference goes away.If You have Radio Stations that You Like to Listen to, but there are places that You go where the Signal is Weak, You Will get some kind of Static coming through Your Radio. If You also like Myself have Ballasts for HID Headlights or if You have HID for Your Fog Lights as well, then You Most Likely Will Experience the Same kind of Static that I do or Worse.I Very Highly Recommend Everyone to get these Ferrite Core Cord Noise Suppressors for their Vehicle.

It fit the cable and went on easily. I did not have a great noise problem before I put it on so I don't know if it made a difference in noise levels.

I'm probably confessing my ignorance about the physics of audio system noise abatement, but this product was recommended to me by an audio component manufacturer to get rid of a low level ground buzz. Unfortunately it was not effective. I ultimately got better results by re-orienting my audio signal and power cables. This product may work to reduce noise generated by RF interference, but it didn't help me. At least it was an inexpensive lesson!

Fits the power cords used with most electronics, and looks like it was made there. My noise problem was too large for just one to resolve, but when I added more (different model), the problem was resolved. Just from the addition of just one of these, the problem was a little less severe. If you need several, look around amazon for the best value being offered on a given day.

I bought 2 of these and have been in the RF business for 20 years. Ferrite is for RF noise and with that said must be used in the proper way. I've read several reviews how they don't work and that's simply not true, there are more factors to the equation.I recently did another computer build and every time I turned on the computer the T.V. lost several channels due to interference or commonly known as RF noise or EMI (Electromagnetic interference). I found the source of the problem which was my OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W power supply. Solution was one Ferrite Core noise suppressor on the cord and wala works like a charm.Computers put out a lot of RF noise and or Electromagnetic interference and can escape from the side panel being off, pci slot missing, bay panel being off, there are just to many to list but it can be fixed with a process of elimination. Most components come with a ferrite bead on them, monitors, mice, keyboards and even the speakers. So if your having problems 'Google It!' and you'll fix it.Anyway It works and I would recommend for everyone with RF noise or EMI.

I went to "easily snap" onto my power cable on my tv and the 2 locking tabs broke off instantly. (you can see them in the item picture) Even without much force, these things are fragile. I ended up wrapping it on there with electrical tape. Still didn't solve my noise problem but I don't think it's this products fault. However, 1/4" should be 1/4". The inside diameter seems just a hair smaller than 1/4", enough to be an issue. Customers may want to purchase the 3/8" size instead to be safe.
