Clearly this product was used. There are wear marks on the product and the box has been opened. The battery is at 91%. I really wanted to like this product and will use it. The app seems very nice but I shouldn't feel like I'm getting second hand products. So after getting a new camera grip, I have to say that it works as advertised. The original grip had been used and returned and then clearly sold as new item. The buttons didn’t work correctly every time and the overall controls seems sluggish or spongy. The new grip is crisp and responsive. The app is amazing and the Fjorden community is great. Customer service from Fjorden is top notch. My initial review should stand as a blemish on Amazon but the camera grip, app and overall experience with Fjorden is great.

The concept is awesome. Camera controls that go beyond shutter button AND it fits in my pocket? Like a dream come true. Alternatives on the market may be cheaper, but they are bulkier and they do much less. It’s worth noting that this grip works with Fjorden’s app, but also works with Obscura 3 and ProCamera. So if you’re already attached to either of those, you’ll get expanded functionality. Otherwise, the shutter button works on all other camera apps.I rate this so low primarily because of the build quality and the price. If you’re reading these reviews and think “I bet I can handle it safely enough and be fine”, you are just like I was when I made the order. What happened was that the hinge broke quite literally within 5 minutes of my opening the box. With that, I can’t use the hinge to open up into a kickstand, so functionality lost. It really doesn’t take much pressure at all for it to break, and I do wonder about the durability of the rest of the device after having experienced that. Doesn’t leave a good taste in the mouth that have that happen to your roughly $140 accessory. I can still use the device after super gluing the hinge back together. I can remove it as needed without much issue, but it does make me feel like I’m handling cracked china.I’m going to hang onto this device because I’m responsible for it after breaking it. Would I like my money back? Certainly. But since that isn’t an option, I’ll wait for the mythical MagSafe adapter to become available. I see this grip getting a lot more life and enjoyment once I can more easily swap it around different cases (plus the orientation changing ability and the tripod mount slot).

I have tried just about every one of these grips currently on the market and so far this is the only one that actually works. The Pictar unit turned out to be a real disappointment.Only thing I don’t like about the Fjorden is the case is too big for my hip holster and for the cost I think the unit could have been a bit more sturdy. I just do not think the plastic parts will hold up long term considering connecting and disconnecting the actual grip from the mount that sticks to the phone over and over. The semi stick 3M material also does not appear to be able to withstand months let alone years of use. That all said the device works and feels terrific. It is obvious that Fjorden spent a lot of time developing the app and interface. I especially like the fact that it also works with the Pro Camera app which adds a little more flexibility as well as video functionality that the Fjorden app currently does not support.I am headed to a Mediterranean cruise in a month or so and am not taking my bulky Sony DSLR SLT as I plan to use only my iPhone with the Fjorden grip and app.Again the biggest issue is the cost. Way too expensive for most people and the second real issue is what the life of some of these components will turn out to be.Stay tuned. Will let you know !!!!

It was clearly designed for landscape work. BTW, do not attach in the dead center. It's probably best to off center by a few mm below center line. For portrait work it's definitely a FAIL. Half the time, a bit of my finger is in the shot. And to switch from landscape to portrait mode, u have to unattach and reattach. And for over $130, it's WAY overpriced and worse, did not perform as promised. I will be selling this.

Just returned this. Only shutter button works, others did not, even after resetting many times.NO user manual ... Q code did not workNO customer service .. no Phone and no reply to 3 emails. Also it's small and hard to hold steady, which sorta defeats the purpose of a "camera grip." My hands are medium, and I found it hard to grip and contort my index finger to push the shutter button. It should have been placed for your thumb, which is where all real cameras position it.
