This thermostat housing is made from ugly dark grey diecast aluminum and not regular light grey casted aluminum. The sealing of the water neck is completely mangled where the only possible seal would be with a gasket maker sealant.

The part that came in the box I recived does not look like what is pictured in the listing, or what others here that posted pictures. This will not work for me

Many people have indicated this is cast aluminum, the one I received is cast iron as seen by the magnet stuck to it in my picture. Rough finish on the unit, but the gasket surface is machined flat. Horribly poor packaging from Amazon to put this in a paper bag mailer since it weighs about 2 pounds and tore the box open. The gasket is broken into multiple pieces, but I plan to use an O-ring style gasket anyway.

The item I received doesn't look like the quality part pictured. The one I received looks like the rough-cast "Dorman" water outlet in the pic I attached. Very disappointed but will have to use to get the car running. Also, see this link and compare it to what's pictured in this add... the one in the link is exactly what I received.

This water outlet is as close to factory correct as you can get for Chevy and other GM applications high quality cast aluminum, these use a standard gasket not one of those sorry O rings that always leak.

Replaced a leaking aftermarket o-ring housing. No leaks, factory design.
