I figured this product was unfairly rated as a 1 star because it only had two reviews at the time I purchased it. I should have listened. The product fell apart upon unfastening the little twist ties. I didn't even get to use it on a cherry. The rivet in the center is not secure, and it seems like even if I did get one that wasn't broken, the construction of this product is very cheap and flimsy. It's not what you would think a little cheap metal tool would be like. If you want a cherry pitter, this one is not the one for you.

I bought one of these at a local store to pit sweet cherries for preserves. It fell apart as soon as I started using it. The rivet was not finished correctly. I would not trust this brand again. However, if you can get one with a good rivet, it does push the pits out easily, but leaves a really large hole. I would recommend pitting in a large bowl or in the sink, because the juice does spray everywhere.

I bought the item specifically for use with olives. Unfortunately, the pitter obliterates the bottom half of the olive. Since I bought this to stuff olives it isn't really working out. I do think it would work well with cherries.
