The title says it all. Locally, the box stores only stock tissue paper thick caps. Nor do they stock the 3" caps.I would buy this brand again in a heartbeat.

I had a full wood burning fireplace, but installed a gas log set for convenience. Since the outside chimney had started to leak, I just had it removed and shingled over outside. But that left an 8” gaping hole on top of the firebox. This 8” end cap looked perfect to plug the hole and keep dust from entering my gas log system. I thought it would just drop right in and snap into place. Not so! It was smaller than 8” and did not fit like I expected. Instead, I ended up using it anyway but carefully pounded it down inside the 8” flue until it bottomed out on a ledge in the flue. Not what I envisioned but it still worked to plug the flue and protect my $1000 gas log set.

Cap purchased to seal old flue vent in chimney base. Despite the slightly oval shape of the duct, the end cap fit snugly and securely.
