This garlic keeper is a nice size able to hold a household supply of garlic. My grandmother always had a garlic keeper on the counter which she swore kept her garlic fresh for longer. After all my garlic kept sprouting green stems (which can make garlic bitter), and worse yet, rotting frequently, I decided to hunt down one of these for my own counter so that I could keep my garlic in the dark, in a cooler environment with some ventilation. What's really nifty about this keeper is the underside of the lid can be used for grating garlic and ginger. I've seen this technique used in Asian cooking, and tried it on some garlic and ginger last night and it works really well!
