¹If you purchase a nüMaps Lifetime subscription (sold separately or bundled together with certain GPS models), you will receive up to 4 map data updates per year, when and as such updates are made available on Garmin’s website, for 1 compatible Garmin product until your product’s useful life expires or Garmin no longer receives map data from its third party supplier, whichever is shorter. A product’s “useful life” means the period during which the product (a) has sufficient memory capacity and other required technical capabilities to utilize current map data and (b) is capable of operating as intended without major repairs. A product will be deemed to be out of service and its useful life to be ended if no updates have been downloaded for such product for a period of 24 months or more. Unless otherwise stated, the updates you receive under the subscription will be updates to the same geographic map data originally included with your Garmin product when originally purchased. In some instances, your Garmin product might not have sufficient memory remaining for you to load an update to the map data, in which case you will need to either (a) select reduced map data coverage for your updates, or (b) purchase separately a microSD™/SD™ card (if and as applicable to your Garmin product) and load all or a portion of the map data coverage for your updates to the card and insert the card into the microSD/SD card slot contained in your Garmin product. If neither of the measures in (a) or (b) can be used to address your product’s lack of sufficient remaining memory, then Garmin may conclude that the “useful life” of your product has expired. Garmin may terminate your nüMaps Lifetime subscription at any time if you violate any of the terms of this agreement or your subscription. Your nüMaps Lifetime subscription may not be transferred to another Garmin product.

²FREE lifetime traffic updates may not be transferred to another person or another Garmin product. Lifetime traffic extends for the useful life of your Garmin traffic receiver (as long as you own a compatible Garmin GPS) or as long as Garmin receives traffic data from its traffic supplier, whichever is shorter. A traffic receiver’s “useful life” means the period during which the receiver (a) has the required technical capabilities to utilize current traffic data service and (b) is capable of operating as intended without major repairs. Traffic content not available for all areas. See traffic coverage areas.

This device was great for a month....bright displace nice maps but then it randomly took me on a round about journey an hour out of my way and completely died. It won't turn back on for a second. I hardly ever used the device and when it wasn't in use it was neatly packaged in the box that it came in. I know it was fully charged and the device wasn't overheated so I would not recommend this GPS to anyone unless you want to waste a lot of money on a prank. Very disappointed and unsatisfied.

I purchased the nuvi 2457LMT to use on long trips instead of my 5-year old nuvi 255W. My purchase price was under $120 and included life-time maps and traffic (LMT). The improvements in the 2457LMT over the older instrument that are important to me include: more satellite sensitivity, faster boot-up, brighter screen, lane guidance, the elimination of the "Recalculating" announcement every time you deviate from a chosen route (even at some highway rest stops), and an easier-to-use menu to find POIs ahead while driving. Before taking a trip to locales that I am unfamiliar with, I usually program in places that I want to visit be adding them to my "Favorites." While doing this with my 255W, I found that it could not acquire satellite while in my house. With the 2457LTM, satellites are acquired while in my house, and even from some areas of my basement. This tells me that the newer instrument has greater sensitivity while acquiring satellites.I will spare you from rereading most of the positive features that have already been made by previous reviewers. Instead I will use my space to caution you about some characteristics that are not mentioned by many reviewers. There are 3 characteristics that prevent me from giving the 2457LTM 5 stars rather than 4:1) Garmin's User Guide tells you that you can add a micro SD card, but does NOT tell you that the LTM feature of your device may not work in the future if you do not have this micro card. From my experience with the older Garmin GPS, it appears that you should install at least a 4 GB micro SD card before you update maps very many times, and once this is done and data is put onto this card, you cannot swap it out for a large card without risking losing the ability of updating and using your GPS. This is due to the increases in data as Garmin updates its maps. I check for and download updates (when available) before going on out-of-town trips. This problem appeared the last time I tried to update my nuvi 255W that had a 2 MB SC card in it that was added 2 years earlier when the updates could no longer be contained on the main unit. Now the 2 GB card is filled and cannot be swapped out for a larger capacity card.2) The 2457LTM does not include a protective sleeve for carrying it in your pocket while away from you vehicle. This can be taken care of by purchasing a "AmazonBasics Carrying Case for 4.3-Inch Portable GPS -Black" from Amazon for $5.99.3) As other reviewers have stated, even the newest updated maps tend to be inaccurate in some locales, and may not be as precise in locating your position as other brands may be. This may be a problem in unfamiliar locales at night where visibility is limited. However, I have been able manage with these inaccuracies, so far.Overall, I have found that the Garmin nuvi 2457LTM has been a good buy and I recommend it highly. It's improvements over older Garmin models and its ease of use make it a valuable travelling companion when travelling in unfamiliar locales.

This is my second nuvi, with my first having been the original 350. Plus's for me would be the Lane Assist feature to make sure I'm where I should be when navigating highway interchanges. I sure wish Google Maps/Navigation had this feature. I wasn't sure I would find the traffic alerts very handy as I don't live in a large city, but they've helped me keep my sanity when driving in larger cities. Maybe one day I'll have the ability to use the detour feature when I'm stuck in stop-n-go traffic. The software interface is easy to navigate, voice prompting clear and easy to follow. I also like the app overlays that you can pop up on the right side of the screen. They make it easy to search for nearby gas stations and restaurants when traveling to the unknown during the trip, changing the brightness of the screen and volume of the voice commands. Battery life off the charger is pretty good. If you plan to use the nuvi this way, set the option to turn on the screen only at turns. The screen can eat up the battery power within a few hours. My years of experience with the Garmin product has always been positive. Other reviewers may tell you that they know better and faster routes than the GPS, but if you know they way, why are you using it? A GPS is a must have when traveling to the unknown, and Garmin is the leader in GPS mapping, so put a bit of faith and trust in the device. The only thing, if a bridge happens to be out and the detour signs are in your path, follow the detour so you don't end up in a river or driving off the side of a mountain.Oh no... here's one minus compared to my old nuvi... I miss the "Ding" prior to the voice prompt.

I purchased this model after spending some time browsing in stores and getting a feel for the current options on the market. I ended up selecting this model because:1) One of the lowest priced Garmin nuvi models with Lifetime Maps and Traffic. Complimentary map updates four times a year instead of having to pay for them.2) 4.3 inch screen is large enough for me and I had the benefit of seeing it in person before buying it. I can see how some people would feel 4.3 inches is too small, however. Some of the features I've found really helpful so far:1) The GPS tells you ahead of time what lane(s) you need to be in.2) It informs you of the speed limit where you are, so you're constantly in the loop if it changes.3) Route selection for more flexibility in your route, which has been great for traveling to places I'm not familiar with.A couple quirks/cons:1) Some of the more expensive nuvi models had a wider ranger of English voice options, ie. British/Australian. This model comes with two English voices. It's not really important, but some greater variety can be fun.2) The traffic updates can be a little erratic. Occasionally I've run into traffic with no warning from the GPS, or it will inform me that traffic is moving smoothly when it definitely isn't.
