Gates Timing Belt Component Kits with Water Pump offer customers the best and most complete repair solution by including the same premium components as our TCK’s - timing belts, pulleys and tensioners - as well as a water pump. Timing belt driven water pumps should always be replaced at the same time as the timing belt. Don't take chances. With Gates TCKWP’s, you can avoid returns by replacing all critical system components at the same time.

Kit came quickly and complete. Took 2 1/2hrs to install. I know the bearings were China but the tensioner was Canadian.

Was unable to use the water pump due exit direction on my 06 Impressa Wagon, otherwise no other issues. I didn't notice a fitment issue when purchasing the kit.

Most of the components were Japan made with the belt made in America and some Chinese bearings. Everything is included and fit well.

Ordered for a 2003 Subaru Outback 2.5 4 cylinder (with B as 4th digit of VIN).Product delivered is as described, excellent packaging, and appears to be of exceptional quality. They even included a little tube of Loctite!Hopefully I will never need to order another one, but if you're looking for a timing belt for your Subaru, for the price you can't go wrong with this.

Hi Folks,This was my second timing belt job, and first on a 2005 Subaru Outback. Everything was great with the product. It went together perfectly, and I highly recommend this product. There were of course the usual challenges (for one, I almost tightened the water pump with the gasket out of position- luckily I caught it), but the car is running great now. Just one note, the car did idle and die a few times after installation. I'm not sure if the belt needed a little break in, but even though the timing marks were lined up perfectly... the car did idle oddly for a few days. After reading a few posts about the balancer, I thought that perhaps I may have over tightened the AC and power steering/alternator belts. So, I loosened both of the pulleys a few turns to relax the tension just a bit. After that, the engine seems to idle much more smoothly. I'm not sure if that was the cause, but I thought I would pass along that note... has nothing to do with the product, but it is just my two cents. Take your time, and good luck!

Great for the money, Chinese water pump that seems to pump water fine, temps are right where they were with OEM pump, USA Gates belt, Japanese rollers and tensioner. Belt seems a little tight but it might be me. Anyway, I have no complaints. People complain about single bearing idlers but if you replace them each time, there isn't going to be a problem, I've had them go over 200,000 miles anyway. I lost an idler gear because someone didn't replace it back when I didn't do this stuff myself. Now I know it's all been replaced and when. Two things, I made a tool out of 3/8 inch bolts and spare washers and nuts and scrap lumber to take the crank pulley off. There are other ways to do it, lots and lots of ways to get it off but not as many to hold it to torque to 130 ft. pounds. But my tool costs less than $10 and it works both ways off and on. I had to remove the radiator for it to fit but honestly I was bending fins when I didn't remove the radiator, so it's not a bad idea to remove the radiator anyway.I used You Tube in addition to the instructions with the kit, it helps. My kit came with a metal water pump gasket. I didn't use any sealant and it didn't leak. The metal gasket is preferable. My kit came with a thermostat gasket. I bought an OEM thermostat and paid $3 for a gasket because I didn't realize the kit came with one.I have an auto but it comes with a gauge for the timing belt guard on the manual trans version. It also comes with two service bulletins.

Fit my 2003 Subaru Legacy 2.5L. Suggest also changing the front seal and the thermostat at the same time. The thermostat is actually mounted on the water pump on this car, so you have to gain access to it whether you change it or not! And the front seal is easily accessible while the timing belt is off.On the timing belt, make sure you set the main shaft pulley and the two valve pulleys before you take off the old belt. Once I rotated them to the right position (while the old belt was still on), I also marked the pulleys and the wall behind them. Note that the valve pulleys may (probably will) shift on you while the belt is off. It's critical to get them lined up correctly. There's a video on Youtube that shows how to line them up. Very good to see ahead of time. Here's a trick on getting the bolt loosened off the main crankshaft. First I must state the obvious since some folks in our society like to sue - Do this at your own risk. I assume no liability if someone tries this trick and incurs damage or injury. Use good common sense and be mindful of safety. OK, here's the trick... This car takes a 22 mm socket for this bolt. Stick your socket wrench on the bolt. Now, wedge a stout metal bar under the air conditioner bracket, crossed over to the front of the car (don't let it rest on the radiator or you may dent it - use a wooden block or something to keep it from touching the radiator). Make sure it's secure in its placement. Have your socket wrench handle rest on this bar. (Note that the crankshaft will turn clockwise as you are facing the front of the engine.) Keep everyone clear of the wrench for safety. Now turn the ignition key just so that the engine bumps but does not start. That should be enough to break the bolt loose. You can now unscrew it the rest of the way.

Exactly what I needed.Almost half the price of the same kit from the discount retail chain nearby. It does include the water pump.Note: My auto manual did not emphacize enough that the bottom left idler needs come off first and go back on last. Would have been much easier if it had said that. The reason for this is that it sits in the longest span of the belt, thus in the best point of leverage. Also be sure to notice the bearing sleeve inside the tensioner. That sleeve fell out while I had the part sitting up for some time and had left the area. Almost put it back together without that sleeve. It is just a simple sleeve that sits in the bolt hole for that idler. The manual I refer to is my auto manual. Not the fault of these Gates guys. Also note that I used a chain wrench to remove the main pulley/harmonic balancer. It ruined the harmonic balancer. Both my manuals recommended the chain wrench (again, not referring to the instructions with this kit). That mistake cost me $150. See other ways to do it on the internet. I can't recommend any of them for liabiltity reasons. But there are a 4 holes in most of the harmonic balancers that can be taken advantage of... and yet another method that is even easier. In all methods there are great hazards. Be very very careful and take small steps when you can. Protect yourself and others. As nice as this kit is, and it was perfect, the removal of the harmonic balancer is so difficult that you should really think about having a shop do the repair. Breaking the big bolt loose took well over 170 foot lbs. But... I was 100% succesfull and still have all my fingers. It made a huge difference in how smooth my car runs. Very surprised that it made that much difference. But my old belt was very loose. Would have gone any day.
