Product Description

The GE-branded 6-Outlet Space-Saving Wall Tap adds versatility to your electrical outlets by incorporating a unique vertical side-access design. The slim profile of this adapter offers a form and function not present in typical outlet extenders. Each side of this wall tap features 3 grounded AC outlets, and since your plugs don't stick out from the wall like they would with regular adapters, this outlet adapter is a perfect space-saving option for tight spaces or behind furniture and media. The tap is ideal in home or office setups and the perfect addition to seasonal lighting. Use the tap for appliances on kitchen counters, where space is limited. Works as an outlet expander, and operates as a Right-Angle adapter.Quite narrow. 2nd time I've bought these.

Now I can use my coffee grinder, coffee maker and tea kettle without unplugging one of them to plug in the other. Saves time and gnarliness.

Just the thing to keep my Roku plug from being crushed between the wall and the back of the tv.

I wanted to plug in my Keurig coffee maker, my Nespresso espresso maker, my Aero milk frother and my cord for recharging my cell phone into one outlet. This outlet extender is perfect for my needs. It allows me to keep everything plugged in continuously and keep the cords neatly out of the way. And since the coffee appliances never run at the same time, I don't worry about overloading the outlet. Being two sided, this extender also allows for oversized plugs to coexist.

GE's 6 Outlet Side Access Wall Tap is a total lifesaver! It magically turns 2 outlets into 6 – seriously, who doesn't need that? Plus, it's got these handy 3-prong outlets for all your gadgets. The side access thing is genius, takes up no space. Perfect for making your charging setup way less stressful! 🚀

Lots of extra capability to a 2 outlet plug thats in the same gang as a switch. Of course, just plugging in very low power stuff to it so as not to overload the 15amp wiring.

GE listened to feedback on the annoying "lip" which flairs out from the side, and removed it! The new design is flat on all sides. It fits perfectly in my Legrand On-Q 14"x14" structured wiring enclosure, which has a 1-gang outlet along the bottom. The power adapters on Netgear's unmanaged switches stick out sideways, so the On-Q cover wouldn't close. But with the GE extender, the adapters fit perfectly.

If you've watched TV for the past few months, you might have seen an "infomercial" for a product called the "Side Socket". When I initially saw this product, I thought to myself that it was GENIUS. I can't count how many times I've ruined electrical plugs plugged in an outlet behind a piece of furniture. The problem is in that scenario, when you push the piece of furniture to the wall, most cord get smashed to a 90 degree angle. This can typically cause problems in the long run, so your option is to either have a gap between your furniture and wall or just come up with another solution (a 90' angle surge protector to plug into the wall). But the problem is that the Side Socket and many of the off-brand products are at least $13 (at the time of this review - 12/9/2013). Some of them have surge protection, while others do not. I think that if you want a Side Socket type device with surge protection, then it is worth the money. In my case however, I didn't want surge protection because I'm just using this thing to plug in some lamps and an alarm clock and I wasn't willing to pay $13 for this functionality. That's when I found this device for a fraction of the price ($4.88 on Amazon). This does EXACTLY the same thing that Side Socket (w/o surge protection) does without the major bulk. It takes your standard wall outlets and it converts them into 6 and makes the outlets face perpendicular to your outlet.I've seen some reviews complain about the fact that this device converts the TOP wall outlet into 6 outlets. But remember, this is exactly how most of the real Side Socket devices function as well. If you're worried about fire hazard, remember most power strips do the same thing (convert a single plug into 6 or more). The bottom section of this device just has a grounding plug (mine were the metal kind, not plastic), which is used for stability to keep the unit as a whole from wiggling around. There is no way to secure it to your wall outlet with a screw. My only "complaint" is that you cannot plug in devices with an AC adapter or oddly shaped plug bases (like some cell phone chargers) into it if you're shoving a piece of furniture (like a dresser) against it. You only have a small footprint to work with, but that doesn't mean the product is faulty. The product does what it's supposed to and is well made at a fraction of the price of a real Side Socket.
