When armed, the system is designed to deter vehicle theft by performing one or more of the following: pulsing the horns and exterior lamps when unauthorized vehicle entry is detected, or prevent starting of the engine without an authenticated ignition key. This module may manage the system functions independently or in conjunction with other modules and components within the vehicle. These original equipment anti-theft control modules have been manufactured to fit your GM vehicle, providing the same performance, durability, and service life you expect from General Motors.

Looks and works like the original Made in Mexico OEM part. I'm confident it is OEM. I have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous that has given me fits of intermittent No Start almost from the day I purchased it used in 2010. I finally suspected after much research that it was the Anti Theft Module in the steering column. I had a Mobile Key Technician connect to the vehicle and confirm the problem was the Module. After replacing the part in now starts every time. You can install it fairly easily, but you'll need a technician with a portable programmer that can to connect to GM's network to program the new module. GM will release the code electronically over their service network on an individual basis with a 15-20 minute delay to prevent theft.
