I have an extensive collection, and I have a passion for restoring vintage/antique blades for fun and profit. These are part of one of my favorite sharpening methods. I use tiny dabs of silicone to affix the disc to a sheet of plate glass - then wet grind by hand. The stone remains perfectly flat and quickly restores the edge.

These are "solid" discs - and I mean that in terms of "strong" and "hard working". But they are "solid" too! I did not use a backer disc when using them.In terms of working with these discs, I simply attached them to a variable speed grinder and have at it. I was surprised at how easily the various grits attacked stone. After a very short time, I was able to completely level out one ridge in one stone with just the 120 grit. I was pretty sure I would need to walk through the lower grits to get the necessary "bit", but I was wrong. Even with the mid-grade grit of 120 was enough. On the advice of one reviewer, I did notice that there are no marking of any sort on the discs. Apart for looking carefully at the grit on each disc, there is no way to tell them apart. So, first item on the list was to make down in a couple of places on each disc, what the grit number is.The second item, was how to store these discs. Although they each come in a small plastic bag, inside a paper sleeve, I am concerned about rust. I feel that the plastic bag might help to promote rust, so I have eliminated the plastic bags, and now store each disc in the paper sleeves they came in. I also noticed that these paper sleeves are coated inside - they are not just paper through-and-through. I feel that I am now safe with regards to any rust starting. If it does start to appear, I plan on a light coating of WD40 on the back side, and again, stored inside those paper sleeves. As I mentioned earlier, these discs are firm enough to work on their own. I did not use any backing plate - however - I am also using these discs for small items. If you are removing a lot of material quickly, and are pushing into the discs rather hard, you might want to consider using an extra plate.Bottom line - an excellent set of well made various grits of diamond sanding/shaping discs. Each disc was well made, flat, and had evenly applied compound over the entire disc surface. Zero flaws.

These are really nice and thick discs, not floppy at all. They are flat as well with no noticeable warpage. The coatings are very consistent and I don't see any flaws or bumps. I tested them out on a piece of glass, and the 320 did a good job at flattening, but it did take a little time. A coarser grit would get the job much quicker, but those are offered in a different set. I stepped up through the grits to 3000, and did not have an issue with any of the discs. The 3000 grit did not create a perfectly polished reflective finish, but more of a very smooth matte. Just like I'd expect. I think polishing pads and compound or some cerium oxide is still required for the final touch, but this is an awesome set of abrasive discs. I did not see any wear on them after using them with water. I think they will last a good long time, thank you so much for the great product. Just a note, I unpackaged them before noticing that they are not labeled LOL, so I quickly labeled each one with a piece of tape so I wouldn't forget. I believe they are also made of steel because they do stick to a magnetic surface if you're curious about that.

Used this for putting a safe chamfer on a cut wine bottle. Did a great job. They're heavy and durable with strong abrasiveness. Good build up from coarse so you can get a really soft finish without spending all day.
