Another quality Havel's product.I am a total fan of Havel's seam rippers and snips. I am a seamstress and machine embroiderer. I discovered the Havel's brand a few years back in a local store and have been a devotee ever since.Snips and seam rippers and anything else with a blade like this, will eventually wear out and become dull. With blades you can put on a new one, with scissors and snips, you just have to replace them because they're too small to effectively sharpen. With the Havel's, at least they last a good while before you have to replace them. I have a previous seam ripper like this and was going to just get a package of replacement blades, but this didn't really cost that much more and it came with a bunch of blades -- I decided I'd like to have two of them, one with a buttonhole blade and the other with the curved blade. The blades are sharp, reliable and with this set you get a nice number of replacements. Replacing the blade is super easy, and the replacement blades are packaged safely in foil wraps.I love the brand, I love the seller, and I couldn't more highly recommend this product.

***E X C E L L E N T*** seam ripper that actually works!!!!. Those other older style seam rippers just pick at the seams, and if you are lucky, you'll get to glide the ball end down the seam (IF). This one cuts like butter without the pulling or tearing of the fabric. It will separate your seams effortlessly. It designed very well with a nice grippy handle and a thick plastic snap on safety cap. It also comes with 3 replacement blades and 2 button hole blades. All the blades are surgically sharp. Also, the replacement blades are sold on Amazon under Ultra Pro replacement blades. This is another must have for all those who quilt and would also make a perfect gift for anyone who sews or quilts who still uses the older useless type unknowing of this type of ripper. This could be your main gift (not a stocking stuffer), as its that good and will forever change the way you rip seams - (However, I would also include a package of replacement blades). Trust me, you are guaranteed to get a hug. So keep your pricey brand name seam rippers with their large ergonomic handles and use them as a stiletto as that is all they are good for now.

This is the heavyweight champ of seam rippers, and on a scale of 10 it rates as an 11!Made in Pakistan, where a lot of metal tools seem to be coming from.Surgically sharp flat blade, and could substitute for a scalpel in an emergency.High quality, crisp die cut handle and curved flat blade.Blade is held together by a screw (hand tighten only), so blade changes are easy. This package has 2 extra seam ripper scalpel type blades, + 2 buttonhole ripper blades which look different.Scalpel, er... seam ripper has a plastic cap to protect it.Each extra blade comes in its own sealed package.Nice styling and good ergonomic feel.I tested this out and blade lies flat on cloth while edge rips thru thread like a hot knife through butter. Ahhhh! So nice!A must to have around the house for sewing jobs, cutting insulated wires, emergency surgery...!Extremely pleased, and would heartily recommend and buy again. The only issue was that it was supposed to arrive 2 days earlier, but that is a delivery issue. Ordered Sept 29, arrived Oct 7th.

After wearing out yet another of the little seam rippers with the forked tip and the wee ball on one side, I decided I was going to go for the big guns, so to speak. This seam ripper / buttonhole cutter doesn't disappoint. Be warned, however, that you are essentially now using a scalpel to cut your threads, so utmost care must be used at all times. This is a very nicely weighted, high-quality item, with replaceable blades, and it feels good in the hand.Aside from the usual use to which one puts a seam-ripper, it has come in INFINITELY handy for removing those nasty, scratchy tags that clothing manufacturers still feel the need to put in the necks or side seams of ready-to-wear garments. For someone with a highly sensitive child (like mine), this device has cut down on the tag-related misery tremendously. Even when tags are fastidiously serged right into the garment's seams, I've found it possible with some patience, to use the tool to carefully cut the spaces between the needle-holes in the tags, thus getting them out without actually creating a hole in the seam (as always happened with the cheap little doo-dad seam-rippers).Just remember how sharp it is, and don't get blood on your sewing projects. (If you do accidentally get a drop of blood on your sewing project, however, a good thing to know is that a person's own saliva has the necessary enzymes to break down their own blood, so, gross as it may sound, wetting the spot with your saliva and working at it with a kleenex or rag for a moment will often take the blood stain right out. For even better results, and to take gross one step further, if you put the stained part in your mouth and suck on it...well, use your judgement. All I'm saying is that it's worked for me, but then, I'm not sewing bridal satin or anything.)Long story short: Great seam ripper. Highly recommend. Keep out of reach of children!
