About this item

  • Race-Proven Performance – HP+ Brake Pads deliver motorsport-level friction for street and track applications.
  • Ideal for Autocross & Track Days – Designed for light-duty track use, autocross, and aggressive street driving.
  • Superior Fade Resistance – Stays consistent and fade-resistant between 100–800 degree for high-performance braking.
  • Smooth & Predictable Torque – Offers linear torque with minimal wear for reliable, high-torque performance.
  • Perfect Upgrade for Performance Cars – Provides a significant upgrade over stock pads for vehicles demanding peak performance at low temperatures.

Hawk Performance’s HP Plus brake pad compound is ideal for Autocross and Track Day drivers looking for a high performance race compound that can take the heat of the track and get you home safely without having to change the pads. HP Plus utilizes a unique Ferro-Carbon, high-tech friction material that was developed and manufactured for sport driving in autocross, Solo II and “track day” applications. The Ferro-Carbon formulation offers lower wear rates and higher torque values than other competitive materials. Extremely high coefficient of friction makes HP Plus the perfect upgrade over stock for high performance streetcars used in autocross competition or that experience repetitive, heavy braking. Warning: Due to the dramatic friction levels produced by this product to achieve "race-level" braking, rotor wear, noise, dust and pad life may be affected. Note: Hawk Performance burnishes its HP Plus brake pads as a final step in the factory, but all brake pads have to be bedded-in with the rotors (new or used) that they will be used against. Properly bedding-in new brake pads results in a transfer film being generated at the pad and rotor interface to maximize brake performance.

Purchased the Hawk Performance HB366F.681 HPS brake pads for the front of my 2001 acura cl type s. I paired them with new Detroit Axle drilled and slotted front rotors on the front. For the rear, I also went with Hawk Performance HPS pad along with a new set of drilled and slotted rotors. After initially seating these brake pads, the combination is great. I have at time of writing about 600 miles on them with quite a few high speed express way stops. Brake pedal pressure is smooth and stopping power is excellent for a daily driver. As far as brake dust, well after 600mi some dust washed off nothing excessive. I have used Hawk HPS pads on other vehicles and have been very happy. just wish they were a little less cost.

I've been using these metallic (not ceramic) pads for years and they provide superior stopping power. The only negative is the amount of dust they generate, but, they are worth the nuisance. You won't be disappointed.

Like most pads, the stamped steel backing plate utilizes a thick powdercoat. Between the powdercoat and the rough imprecise edges of the stamped backing plate, the pads don't fit in the caliper properly. If you can get them installed, they certainly won't slide or float as designed. This will wear out the pad prematurely. To correct this, you would need to use a flat file, or find a way to true these edges. Also, the pads don't come with any shims or springs for the rear pads, so you will need to buy these or use the shims/springs off your old pads. For what Hawk gets for their pads, they should at least come with required hardware at a minimum.

I've had these pads on my 2000 Acura TL for a little over a year now and I wanted to put some proper miles on them before writing this review.I must say these pads are pretty impressive but there are a few things you need to know before buying Hawk's HPS pads as you can't just slap them on any car with cheap brakes and expect your brakes to act "sporty".I paired these pads with Brembo "blank" premium coated rotors as they don't use cheap steel and are highly resistant to warping which is ideal for "street performance" or "race" grade pads as they're harsher on your rotors than your typical ceramic pads and you MUST follow the proper break in bedding process once you install these pads so they wear properly and don't cause brake squeak. After installing these pads and properly bedded them in I noticed it does make some noise as the pads were being released from the rotors but it didn't bother me. At first you won't notice a night and day performance and under normal conditions performed exactly like your typical every day brakes with no noise. But don't be dissapointed, these pads performed significantly better once they've been heated up after heavy use and the bite is much better giving you much more confidence when braking especially if you decide to do a couple of laps on a legal track as these pads can take it, just don't overdue it.There are some cons about these pads though and the biggest one is definitely the cost, these are expensive brake pads and you won't get your moneys worth unless you drive your car in a sporty fashion to get them warmed up enough to notice the performance benefits. If you're driving to and frow from A to B you won't notice any difference and you'll feel you've been ripped off. Another major con is the brake dust. It's super dark and instantly appears on your rims even if you just cleaned them so maintenance is more of a pain now so bear that in mind and consider getting something like Armor All brake dust repelant to try to keep your rims clean.Other than that these pads are a worthwhile upgrade over stock pads just keep your eye on prices to make sure you get the best deal and are a perfect blend of street and track driving performance. Just make sure you properly maintain and service your brake calipers or these pads progressively get noisier once conditions aren't perfect.

These brake pads (plus the rear pads HB145B.570) perform better than I expected.I have difficulty in finding users' experiences with these brake pads before my purchase and so now I'd write a few words about them.1. The front pads did not come with shims, but the rear pads (HB145B.570) had shims. The total thickness of front pads (friction material + backing plate) is the same as other brands of brake pads with shims (such as Akebono ACT787). I installed the pads without shims but with the grease that came with the pads. So far I have not experienced noise or squeal problem.2. I was switching from ceramic pads to these "ferro-carbon" pads in order to enhance friction and pedal feel. At this time they have been bedded in according to HAWK instructions and after 100 km they completely changed the pedal feel: solid and confident. At the same time I am surprised to find their braking performance as gentle and linear as ceramic pads in everyday driving.p.s. I installed new front and rear rotors together with the new HAWK brake pads.

These brake pads are fantastic. They have great bite, but are not grabby when first applied, or applied gently. They do produce quite a bit of dust, but that's to be expected with this type of pad. They installed quickly and easily. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again.

Good pads, have a lot of bite. Be warned these pads cause a ton of brake dust. You have to clean your wheels often.

This is the second time that I am installing these on my Acura TL 2000 Front wheels. I use these pads with ATE Rotors on Michelin all season performance tires. The brakes work really well, and I have never experienced any fade over the life of these pads. Between the last time and the recent install, the pads have lasted me approx 15K miles. (Note: I let the pads run down to metal on metal this last time) With that in mind, I can say that 14K mileage is a good estimate. Over the period of time, there is substantial brake dust build up on the rims, If you are really picky about that, frequent car wash can fix that.I can not speak to any breaking distance improvements, however, if we drive carefully and keep good distance, this should never become a factor of grave concern.

I had this on another vehicle prior to and they are just like last time, they are much better than oem version brake pads. Their initial bite might be a bit less when they are cold but once there is any heat, it will bite hard. I never experienced brake fade (except while matting the brakes) but I never experienced brake fade on the oem either. Also a lot less dust on the rims.I will continue to buy these brake pads unless they stop making it or change it.
