About this item

  • Race-Proven Performance HP+ Brake Pads deliver motorsport-level friction for street and track applications.
  • Ideal for Autocross & Track Days Designed for light-duty track use, autocross, and aggressive street driving.
  • Superior Fade Resistance Stays consistent and fade-resistant between 100 to 800 degree for high-performance braking.
  • Smooth & Predictable Torque Offers linear torque with minimal wear for reliable, high-torque performance.
  • Perfect Upgrade for Performance Cars Provides a significant upgrade over stock pads for vehicles demanding peak performance at low temperatures.

Hawk Performance’s HP Plus brake pad compound is ideal for Autocross and Track Day drivers looking for a high performance race compound that can take the heat of the track and get you home safely without having to change the pads. HP Plus utilizes a unique Ferro-Carbon, high-tech friction material that was developed and manufactured for sport driving in autocross, Solo II and “track day” applications. The Ferro-Carbon formulation offers lower wear rates and higher torque values than other competitive materials. Extremely high coefficient of friction makes HP Plus the perfect upgrade over stock for high performance streetcars used in autocross competition or that experience repetitive, heavy braking. Warning: Due to the dramatic friction levels produced by this product to achieve "race-level" braking, rotor wear, noise, dust and pad life may be affected. Note: Hawk Performance burnishes its HP Plus brake pads as a final step in the factory, but all brake pads have to be bedded-in with the rotors (new or used) that they will be used against. Properly bedding-in new brake pads results in a transfer film being generated at the pad and rotor interface to maximize brake performance.

I purchased these for my 06 Porsche Cayman S with the intent to use them for Autocross and 20-minute HPDE1 sessions where I knew I wouldn't be pushing my brakes too much. I also run these on the street. These replaced my stock pads and are mated to stock rotors and calipers.Installation was a breeze, but that's true of all Porsche brakes using the OEM calipers. After compressing the pistons, these dropped right in with no fuss. I used the included grease to ensure that there was no squealing or unwanted friction.I did notice that these do NOT have the notch for the pad wear sensors, so you will not be able to use your pad wear sensors with these pads. I simply tucked mine away, wrapped them in plastic to protect them from the elements, and zip tied them to the connector so that they don't fly around and interfere with anything. The brake light does not come on this way and everything functions normally, and if you track your car, you should be checking your pads manually anyway, so this isn't really an issue to me at all. For those who aren't so mechanically inclined and don't do your own brake work, I would recommend finding a different pad that allows you to keep your wear sensors.Onto the important part: how do these perform? Well, great! When stomping on the brakes at max power in a straight line, I'm able to nearly overpower my Continental ExtremeContact DW03 all-season tires, something I could not do before with my stock Textar pads. My pedal feels pretty similar, but I definitely have some great confidence with these pads as it's pretty easy to modulate braking power and get a good feel of what they're doing. These performed very well in autocross with no squealing. On the street, I get occasional squealing at very low speeds (below 10mph) with very light braking power (less than 10%). Basically, if you're slowly rolling and just lightly gliding the brakes, they might squeak. If you give it normal braking power, they're silent. At high speeds or with more heat, they're silent. This might just be my installation though, so take that with a grain of salt. I have not ran these on the track yet so I can't comment on heat or fade performance, but plenty of others have reported that these will work great for beginners who aren't pushing the braking system to their limits, which is why I bought them. I have no doubt that these will be fine on track, and once I wear through them and gain some experience, perhaps I'll upgrade again.Dust-wise, these certainly create more dust than the stock pads which I expected. I would highly recommend coating your wheels in a couple of layers of wax/sealant and/or ceramic coating. This creates a smooth protective layer over the wheel finish, which makes it a lot more difficult for brake dust to stick. The wheels stay cleaner for longer, and when they do get dirty, they're way easier to clean. Additionally, I'd recommend picking up a good iron remover (search for IronX) which will help dissolve any stubborn brake dust particles that end up sticking to your wheels.Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again. This was the lowest price I was able to find for these pads. They perform well and I think they're a great bang for the buck. It's a very noticeable difference over stock.

Much less dust and quieter than factory Textar brake pads. No squealing and no dust, I'm in Hawk heaven!

Used these on my E46 M3. I know these pads are for the 996/986 models but they worked on my car with my mods. Strong initial grip, maybe too strong. Wish there was more modulation in them as they get to the limit. I have enough feel to know right about when the ABS will arise but wish there was a bit more feel as it's still a bit abrupt on my car. Pad life seems to be okay for the price but don't expect them to last super long. They've taken the heat well at Thunderhill in 100F and Laguna at 90F with 20-25min sessions in a 3600lb car with me in it. Showed no signs of fade. Would I buy again? Maybe. PFC08 are my next choice but they cost about 2x as much.Update: I've done 4 trackdays and around 500 miles on this set and I'd say I'm about 5/8 of the life of the pads. That's pretty good considering weight of car and how hard I am on the brakes.

UPDATE: These pads lasted 78k miles before my Brake Wear light came on. I've been very happy with them and will be replacing with the same pads.ORIGINAL REVIEW (upon initial install):These fit great on my Porsche 911 Carerra (996) and the brake dust is very low. I also get great stopping power with these pads. The included Hawk Performance sticker is cool for your garage tool box.
