An expansion or well nut consists of a flanged neoprene bushing with a threaded nut embedded in the non flanged end. It is used in blind bolt holes to fasten a piece and seal the bolt hole. The nut is inserted into the hole flange side up, as the bolt is screwed into the nut the rubber on the other side of the hole expands and seals the bolt hole.

Two stars from me. One because they were delivered on time, and one because they appear to be good quality.. No more stars than that. Read on for why.The most important measurement for a product designed to plug a hole, is the diameter of the hole it is designed to plug. It should be in the DESCRIPTION at the very top of the page. No where in the description can that essential piece of information be found. In the "technical details" section it gives the dimensions of the BOX they come packed in. Worthless.

I think I had to use a slightly larger drill bit to install. Used to mount a solar panel on roof of trailer. Have driven 3300 miles in last 3 weeks all kinds of weather and wind. Holding up swell.

Needed k-85040 expansion nut for toilet seat. Used these instead and they work great. Just need to trim rubber at bottom a little to get in the blind hole.

I used 8 expansion nuts to provide a secure reliable mount for a 160 watt solar panel on the roof of a toy-hauler trailer.Installation was fast, easy and provided very secure anchor points. I used Dicor EPDM roof sealant around all mounting points to provide a watertight seal. I recommend this product.

I should have read the other review and not relied on the item description. A 1 inch nut should fit a 1 inch hole, not be 1 inch long.

Read the description and look at the picture and it's safe to assume that you're getting a well nut for a 1-inch diameter hole. You're not. You're getting a 1 inch LONG, super skinny well nut. Since you buy well nuts to put in HOLES, one would expect the HOLE diameter to be what was described. I couldn't use these and had to return them.
