Well made, packaged right. Just what I needed for my dogs kiddie pool to drain onto my trees.

This bulkhead valve seems to be pretty well made. The machining on all the threads is good. There is a 1/2” NPT thread on the inlet. My photo shows a 1/2" NPT nipple (not included) threaded into the valve. The male threaded part that goes through the hole in your rain barrel or whatever you are mounting this on measures a full 1” diameter. Might fit in a 1" hole if the hole if the hole is on the + size. The gaskets and nut measure 1-1/2” outside diameter but the hexagonal part of the valve on the outside has no flange and is approximately 1-5/16” over the flats (just slightly wider than 1-1/4”).

I am not a plumber and don't do much plumbing work, so this review is from the perspective of a layman.I ordered this spigot because it seemed like it might be short enough to mount to the front of my truck's bed drawer system for water. Unfortunately it is a little too long, so it won't fit the bill, but I'll make my pain your gain by reviewing it anyway.First, I've looked at a number of spigots for this project, mostly from big box stores like Home Depot. They are all fine, but all flawed in some ways. This is actually one of the best ones I've seen. The brass seems like high quality; it is very hefty. The quarter-turn valve is smooth and easy to actuate with one hand (I've tried some that are very hard to turn). The threading is super smooth; like weirdly so... a small flick of the nut and it just glides up the threads no problem.I really wish this would have worked out for my needs because it is otherwise perfect. In fact, I'm considering modifying my drawers such that I can go ahead and use it anyway. If I am able to do that I will update my review with additional comments.

At my summer campsite, I have to run a hose through a wall, and I need to be able to disconnect it at the end of the season. Up to now, my only solution was to drill a hole in the wall big enough for the fittings at the end of the hose. When I saw this, a lightbulb appeared over my head. (Bystanders were amazed!) This is not the intended purpose for this rain barrel spigot, but I was able to install it on my wall and have garden hose connected at each end. I needed a small adapter on one side of the spigot, but it still does the job perfectly.
