I installed this on a 1999 wr400 with a manual decompression lever. Did the installation myself (first time working with cams) and am very happy with it. The auto compression alone is worth it, bump starting is much easier too. There were some small power changes but mostly noticed it was more linear/smoother delivery.

This eliminates the compression release on the YZ426..the picture is not correct however the part number is. You can not beat this price at all. Madey bike very easy to start with literally a shoe on and noore top dead center game.

Should have done this along time ago. Knocked 10 years of the bike having to use the decomp lever. More powerful too 4th gear pulls wheelies like 3rd did but I was a little rich on my jetting.

Great product, good quality. For this particular bike yz426f this product is worth it's weight in gold, would recommend it to anyone who owns this bike it make starting it a different world of easy.

I waited to install it until I rebuilt my yz426 top end, and when I finally installed it, my bike wouldn't start, I checked the valve clearances, cleaned the carburetor, checked the timing multiple times and nothing. I then removed it and re installed the stock camshaft and the bike started on the second kick. I haven't contacted Hot Cams yet, I'm not sure whether I got a defective one.

Not used to four-strokes but it's definitely doable by just about anyone.Have a torque wrench. Know your torque values. For the 2002 YZ426 the cam caps are to be torqued at 86.4 INCH pounds. That's roughly 7 foot pounds.Get some feeler gauges. Measuring the exhaust valve clearance before installing this seems a bit silly. It will change once this is installed. Install it, then measure. Then remove if you need to shim. This has a different valve clearance spec than what your official manual will say. It will be on a small card in the box with the cam.
