I bought a couple of these about 4 years ago and I am completely satisfied with them. Blueberries that are stored in the original plastic containers often get mildewed in less than a week in the refrigerator. These Hutzler Berry Keepers really work. The container is very sturdy with a cover that stays put. Blueberries can last up to 3 weeks. I highly recommend purchase of a couple of these keepers. I hope my review will help you.

I purchased these because my mother had to change her diet and we are eating a lot of fresh fruit. To keep strawberries longer, I used to have to lay them flat on container lined with a paper towel and leave the lid slightly off in the refrigerator. Now with this new container, I wash them with water and a little bit of vinegar, dry them, and put them in the container. One of the other reviews suggested, putting a piece of a paper towel in the bottom before placing the insert in. I did this. I was afraid with such a tightfitting lid that the strawberries would still go bad quickly. But I tried it. It to my amazement, they stayed just as dry for days after I put them in. I love these would definitely buy again. I will probably buy more.

This is my second Hutzler berry box. The previous one I had for over ten years and based on the success I had with it, I decided to purchase an upgraded version. I have used the new one a few times and noticed that berries stay fresh much longer.

I love this and use it to wash fruit in using Norwex fruit and veg wash .... the rinse and into the fridge.

Great with a few easy adjustments... I buy a lot of fruit for my daughter and I am picky about cleaning and storing my fruit. With that said I also hate wasting any fruit. I always soak my fruit in vingar water as soon as I buy it, this not only cleans fruit but also perseveres fruit if done right. For years I soak, rinse then strain and refrigerate. The key to preserving is getting and keeping moisture off fruit. Which means I normally occupy all my calendars/strainers in my fridge so moisture is able to drip off my fruit into a bowl I set my strainer into. These berry boxes are amazing because I can rinse, soak my fruit in them, then lift the fruit out to drain, rinse vingar off and then set the strainer box back into the bowl to continue to drain and keep my fruit dry in the fridge. Here is the few issues... The box does has small raised corners to hover the strainer so that it can strain... It doesn't hold it high enough to give it space to air out, plus if you doing fruit that can hold a lot of water that needs to drain the space with fill quickly then your fruit is sitting in water :-(. I fixed this smiplely by folding a paper towel and placing under strainer to raise it higher, bonus it will soak up liquid... If u do this don't cover the whole bottom because you need air to get around your fruit. Secondly, the lid snaps nice and tight which is great if your traveling but not if your fruit is just in your fridge. The lid will trap moisture and cause mold quickly. You need air venting around you fruit to keep it fresh. Granted I don't want mine fully uncovered either so I set the lid at a slant or just loosing lay foil on top so air can escape. Hopefully this is helpful and I will add picture so you can see what I have done. You can also see one of my small orange strainers that I normally use over top the red bowl to drain.

Fits nicely in fridge and works!!! Found these for much more $ at the speciality kitchen shop by my place. Bought for end of school year gifts (teachers, coaches). Especially good for raspberries! Fits the large shell and nothing got squished!

I have three of these I love them so much. I buy my berries at an outdoor market, so these problems may not pertain to others who shop at the grocery store and get the clamshell packages, but for me this product solves at least three problems.1. No more wasted packaging when buying berries at the farmer's market. The farmers just dumps my selections right into these reusable containers. Storing them this way is also much more convenient as I can pile more veggies on top or throw them in my trunk without worrying that they'll be smushed. No more loose blueberries rolling around my bag!2. Long-term storage. These are the perfect way to keep your berries in the fridge so that air can circulate around them but still sealed so they don't dry out. I'm very pleased with how long my berries last in these.3. Washing your produce. It is so convenient to soak and wash my berries in the same container we store and eat them from.I have had no problems with the tops sealing, and as far as capacity, one box will hold 3 of the standard berry crates of blueberries or raspberries, and about 1 1/2 of the strawberries. If your farmer is like mine if you ask for one box he will top you off with extra strawberries : ) I love how easily these can be washed and reused. Just a quick rinse is all they need, and they're also dishwasher safe.Edit: After using these for a couple of years, they're still in great shape. However, I now see what other reviewers mean about it being annoying that the tops don't snap on firmly. Also, the lip on the box doesn't seem to serve any purpose and wastes space in my fridge, as I can't nest boxes snuggly against each other. I would love to see these two issues fixed, and this same product in clear plastic, so I can see my berries inside. Forgotten berries go rotten so quickly, and out of sight, out of mind. For that reason, a clear box is really better for berries. Taking a star off for these few issues, though overall, still a good product.
