I ordered this JJC Negative Slide Film Cutter for 35mm 120 Film, Trimmer Support 11-Level Brightness Adjustable LED Backlight Panel with Gradated Mark for Clear Easy Positioning Cutting to use when cutting negatives into strips to fit negative sleeves.Whether you scan your film or print it in a darkroom, you need to have your negatives cut into strips so that you can keep them in negative protectors. If you always have your film processed by a lab, this is one of the services they offer. But, if you process your own film, or if you prefer to have your film left in a full roll for camera scanning, you'll need to cut them yourself. It is not the easiest task in the world. Using scissors often leads to uneven cuts and, sometimes, missing the space between negatives resulting in part of the image being cut off. This tool fixes the issue.You just place your film under the guide and move it until the center line is directly between two frames where you want to make your cut. Then you slide the cutter. A built-in LED does a great job at illuminating the negatives from below so you can see the space between the frames easily. You can adjust the brightness when dealing with very thin negatives. The cutter is quite sharp and produces a clean, even cut. Silicone pads under the film guides that hold the cutter prevent scratches. This is a must have item for anyone who processes their own film.I previously ordered an earlier version of this cutter than can only be used for 35mm film. This one is larger and will accommodate 120 film. I was impressed enough with the older version to jump on this one.
