My trumpet plays very quietly and still has a great sound. The aluminum helps create a quiet metallic sound. Be prepared for back pressure with this or any other practice mute on the market.Just to warn you... Unlike the picture, my mute had no cork! The cork is replaced with black rubber. It stays in the trumpet just fine. It is fun to use and still sounds great.The big problem... The black rubber piece fell off after a couple weeks of use. I used gorilla glue to fix it. It hasn't fallen off again yet. I still think it is a well crafted mute, I just wish they sent me the mute with cork!
