The bamboo wok utensils are a gift for my grandson. They are exactly as I expected.

First, the set I received is not burnished, no honey glaze colour, just raw wood material, looks low quality. Secondly, it does not include the long spoon as shown in the product picture. I plan to return it.Well, just discovered that the product is not returnable ! Money wasted, I will not recommend this product! Product shipped not the same as advertised...

I am very pleased with these spoons! They were purchased to keep my new teflon coated T-fal pots and pans scratch free and they have done just that. The bamboo does not stain as easily as wood and they also do not expand like wood does when left in water. They are hard bamboo and a nice finish. Highly recommended. I am sure you will love them.

The little spoon in this set is the BEST wooden spoon I've ever used. We've had one for over 10 years and I recently bought a new set, not because the old one wore out but simply so we'd have a 2nd to use when the first was dirty. The other two longer spoons are nice too, although they have broken over the years; we got our money's worth out of those. But, that little spoon is a champ, no matter what task you give it!

Unlike wood, bamboo is a member of the grass family and has very different properties. Bamboo utensils are stiffer, stronger, and harder than the same utensil made of common wood used for utensils. Because bamboo does not absorb significant water, these utensils will not swell, split, or absorb the food you are cooking. They are similar to wood in terms of heat resistance. As a result, these are strong utensils that outperform wood. Once you try one, you won't buy wooden spoons again. These particular utensils are burnished (polished by rubbing) to give them a smooth finish that is easy to clean, and food doesn't stick to them as much as it does to wood. Although they may be as strong as steel in terms of not breaking or bending even when trying to mix a very stiff dough by hand, the ends wear down slowly if they are used to scrape the browned on bits of food off of pot bottoms.Although sold as a stir fry set, I use these for many other things, involving stirring, mixing, scraping, fluffing and serving cooked grains, and mixing dough by hand.Highly recommended for any kitchen.

This Bamboo stir fry set arrived as described except for the fact that there is no Joyce Chen logo on the utensils, despite arriving in a Joyce Chen box, and the cutout holes are different from the photo. The set works as described and appears to be decent quality but without a logo I cannot guarantee its authenticity as a Joyce Chen product so I am unable to say whether this set is inferior to the set in the photos or just as good. Regardless, they were not very expensive and, as I stated earlier, appear to be of a decent quality and function as described so I am satisfied with my purchase - I just feel misled by the differences from what was described and pictured, and what I received.

I have had this set for more than 5 years. All pieces are still perfect and I find the set useful for more than just stir fry. I use them daily to cook everything. I do not like using plastic spoons/utensils to cook as they pose a health concern, so the bamboo is a great option. The rice paddle is obviously most useful for rice and that is all I use it for. The mixing spoon is useful for any kitchen task that requires a spoon. The stir fry spatula I use to chop and stir meat when browning or to scrap the bottom of the pan when making a sauce. I do not put these utensils in the dishwasher and simply handwash and let air dry most times. I love this set and definitely recommend them for their usefulness and quality.

I started out using wood and cheap material stir fry sets from department stores. They certainly served me well throughout my college years. I thought there were no differences. But with all types of products, there are. This bamboo set is no exception. It has a nice feel, almost as if they were meant to fit into your hands and for cooking. To put it simply, it feels soft and comfortable. As advertised, they will not scratch or damage pans, pots, and woks. They are smooth and treat all of your cookware like a baby. The bamboo does not absorb much moisture, which is godsend for cooking. There are three different cuts: 9-inch rice paddle, 12-inch mixing spoon, 13-inch stir-fry spatula. The small details can make a HUGE difference. The 13 inch stir fry spatula is very versatile. It can be used for rice, mixing, and of course, cooking. It's good that the surface of the spatula is flat and can hold a good amount of food. This is great when you want to just check how the cooking is going. The different pieces are enjoyable to use.The handle isn't anything special, but that's okay. It's a normal shorter neck, and then widens at the bottom of the handle. There is also a hole to hang the pieces onto a hook or cabinet. If you're willing to pony up a little more for a quality set, this is certainly an excellent option. Give this a try and feel the difference. You may not want to use metal or plastic spatulas & spoons ever again.

I have used these for just shy of three years now and they are still holding up. I use them mostly with my nonstick (be it thermolon, anodized aluminum, etc.) as I find some of the silicone tools just weren't working for me, and of course you cannot use stainless steel in these situations as they would scratch the (often expensive) cookware. I was hesitant in putting in the dishwasher, but did so anyways because, hey, the fewer dishes I have to wash by hand the better, and for this price, if it didn't work out I wasn't going too feel bad. However, there was no need to worry because after numerous dishwashing cycles, they have held up quite well.

I love this stir-fry set, though I have to say... I've NEVER used it for stir-frying! I've used it for just about everything else in the kitchen, though. Even the shorter rice paddle has come in handy for all sorts of things (it's fairly flat, so you can even use it like a spatula). Also... It's sooo cheap! I feel like I should order a few more sets, just in case. I've already gotten it for friends and family to throw into a Christmas stocking or to wrap up with a cookbook or pan. The best part: they are dishwasher safe! I've washed mine over and over and have never had a crack. Awesome product.

Yes, as some other reviewers have mentioned, these tools have a funky smell. I would not mind it as much if I knew what it was. If it's something that naturally occurs when the bamboo is cured the way these tools are, and it's not in any way indicative of some chemical that's going to hurt me, then they just need to say so.But I've used the rice paddles very frequently since I've gotten these tools just a few days ago, and they've been through the dishwasher, and I haven't had any kind of bad reaction to using them (and I'm usually pretty chemically sensitive), so I'm going to say I think this must be "a feature and not a bug."I bought two sets, thinking the wok spatulas would be curved more to follow the curved shape of my round-bottomed wok and that I'd use two of them when cooking, one for each hand. They are curved slightly, but not as much as I'd expected for a wok spatula. Yes, I will use them, but they weren't what I expected. The spoons are your typical wooden spoons, except made of bamboo (which is wonderful), and they will serve for what I'd normally use them for.But the rice paddles...I love these paddles! With their large surface, they are great for folding in ingredients like English peas in tuna and pasta salads, and I find them much easier on my arthritic hands than longer-handled spoons. I mix five-minute artisan bread dough manually using a spoon (pushing the flour into the dough to incorporate it all), and one of these paddles is perfect for that purpose. Also, they perfectly fit down inside a wide-mouth mason jar with just a little room to spare, which makes them extremely handy for my sprouting and fermenting exploits. For the money, I'm glad I got these. They are definitely a lot nicer than your typical wooden spoon set and ought to last a long time.
