This so-called “snake catcher” is nothing but a gimmick. I had high hopes, but it turned out to be a complete letdown. Here’s why:1. Cheap Material – The rod is flimsy and feels like it could snap with minimal force. Definitely not the “high-strength stainless steel” as advertised.2. Weak Grip – The clamp at the end is too loose to hold anything firmly. It can’t even grip a rubber snake properly, let alone a real one. Totally unsafe!3. Poor Mechanism – The handle is wobbly and often gets stuck when trying to use it quickly. In a real snake situation, that’s dangerous.4. Not Practical – I bought this for rural use where snakes occasionally show up. When I actually needed it, it completely failed and almost caused an accident.

I bought this tool in the hopes of being able to safely relocate a little garden snake. Unfortunately, the tool disappointed me entirely. The handle was flimsy right out of the box, but I tried to use it anyway. When I went to pick up the snake, the grabber wouldn't have a firm grip and almost caused me to get bitten. This tool is not reliable at all and definitely not safe. I'm returning it.

This Kalkal 69" Snake Grabber Tool was ordered on 19 of Mar 2025 and delivered on 22 Mar 2025 with no damage. This snake catcher is light easy to carry and assemble. The net handle and snake catcher are quality made of stainless steel and aluminum. I had high confidence I could catch any snake I came upon. My first try changed that. There was a nice big 41/2 foot chicken snake causing trouble so I broke out my new catcher. I easily grabbed the snake ,then in trying to lock the ratchet so I could bag i'm, the top adjustment clamp gave way, the hand grip collapsed pinching a blood blister on my hand. Needless to say I dropped the grabber and the snake got away. I put a stainless steel hose clamp just above the plastic factory clamp to prevent a re-occurrence. (see picture) I still cannot get the ratchet to hold so a solo catch and bag can be done. On my homemade catch stick, I have a thumb screw to hold the ¼ inch rope tight for bagging. I think it is a must to be able to lock the holding loop or jaws with just the right pressure for control and capture with out injury to the catch or catcher. I'll try again with my modification If I can find a bagman. No more solo catches for me with this professional sitck.

A good pair of snake tongs is a must if you live in snake country, and we do. Our dog was bitten by a timber rattler afew years ago and we've been on high alert ever since. We already owned one pair of tongs, but as we have 5 acres, we wanted to station a second pair on the property. These have a longer-than-average reach which keeps the human at the other end safe. The net was a bonus. Small footprint makes this easy to store.

This is a good snake grabber when it is assembled and the net on a pole is a great addition. Unfortunately, it is really a pain to set up and break down. The Pros:1. It is very sturdy and mostly well made2. Nice and long to keep you away from any venomous snakes3. The gripper is easy to workThe Cons:1. The grip lock is a good idea but very poorly executed. It will not lock on the tightest setting at all and on the looser settings it just falls back open very easily. The only setting it worked on with out just popping back open was the second to the tightest and that one you need 2 hands to set it not just your thumb as the manufacturer claims.2. It is not at all easy to set up and take down. The instructions are extremely minimal and do not mention a critical step to make the wire from the grip to the claw function properly.3. Once it was set up properly, I had to watch another reviewer to find out how, it works nicely. However, it will not collapse back all the way to the fully folded position. Either the gripper end or the claw end will not fold over when disassembled. It is very easy to pinch fingers when setting it up or breaking it down.4. The length of the grabber and the net pole are good for safety, but also pretty heavy. It might take two people to use with one working the grabber and the other the net to use it safely for the person and the snake.Final evaluation: It is a great snake grabber of good quality when it is assembled. When it comes to being able to collapse it and carry it that way, it loses lots of stars for being clunky, and ultimately not working as claimed. It also loses stars for the grip lock not working at all and looking like a cheap afterthought. Not really worth the price in my opinion.4.

If you live in snake country and need to occasionally catch and remove one, you need something like this. Unlike a snake hook, this actually grabs the snake tightly enough that it can't wriggle free - there's even a locking clasp to keep the snake pinned while you're moving it around. Of course, pinching the snake too tightly could hurt or kill it, so there's a net to drop the snake into for transport. The grabber folds up, so you could take it with you on a hike. The net folds too, but not nearly so much, so you wouldn't likely be carting it along "just in case."All these items are lightweight and not the heaviest build, so I wouldn't recommend them for professional use or anything big like a boa constrictor. For occasional capture of snakes a foot or two long, though, these should work fine. If your snakes are venomous, be sure to use proper protective gear like gloves, boots, jeans, safety goggles, and so on - but assuming you aren't totally clumsy, you won't personally be getting closer to the business end of the snake than 6 feet by using this tool, so you should be reasonably safe.Given the lightweight build quality, I tend to think this set is a bit overpriced. It's a whole lot cheaper than an emergency room visit though.
