I have seen most of these types of sketching bundles or kits, and typically they are the same. Decent quality tools with a variety of graphite, charcoal and colored pencils.However, I really think this one is much (much) better. I will tell you why:Not only that it has all the typical basic starters, with a good quality brand, but it pushes the envelope. It gives more room for an artist to grow, that I didn't see in other kits.This alone will make you love using this kit. In particular:1. Including an artist gloves for working with digital painting on tablet. This is the first time I see this included in a sketching kit. It means they acknowledge that many artists also do sketch digitally nowadays.2. Including toned paper for sketching, even the 10 pages in the package. Sketching on toned paper is a step up for beginner artists and it is quite a treat. It pushes artists to think about values and value scales. It also enables them to treat the toned paper as a mid-tone and respect it in that way.3. Since the toned paper doesn't have any 'white', the kit also includes a set of different hardness white charcoal pencils, as well as a white gel pen to use for highlights.4. Including charcoal vine sticks. Again, this is not a tool that beginners would or should be using. It takes some confidence, experience, and finesse to work with charcoal sticks (typically with newsprints paper).5. Eraser pencil: again, not typically included in sketching kits. This is a luxury. Excellent to use in tight areas of your drawings.6. A total of 6 eye shadow applicators! I have never seen this. Those are great for soft blending. The kit already includes paper stumps, but yet again, this is a super set!7. This one is really my favorite: You get two whip scrappers, with "20" sponges replacement heads. I bet most beginner artists would not know what the heck are these for. To me, this is an advanced level tool that many experienced successful artists have never used. Mainly, this is used for free style creative charcoal drawing (mostly with charcoal powder actually). If you are still not clear on what this mean, just check some artists on youtube with amazing videos on how they draw in charcoal powder. You will thank me!Long review, but this art set really deserves it. It is just wonderful and ISAa great gift idea for any artist.

The Kalour brand is one of my favorite finds as an Amazon Vine Voices reviewer. There’s a lot of buzz about this brand on social media because it offers a lot of interesting sets at a low price point, but I hadn’t heard of it until I got a chance to review one of their colored pencil sets.I’ve really enjoyed working with the various supplies I’ve reviewed from this brand. One thing I’ve noticed with Kalour supplies is that that quality can vary greatly from one item to the next. So for example, in this drawing set I felt like the charcoal and graphite pencils were pretty good, the pastel pencils were AMAZING and the white charcoal pencils were unusable because I couldn’t get them to sharpen at all without breaking.Overall, I think this set is a great value for beginners and folks like me who are on a budget and want to get their hands on lots of art supplies for a low price. You just get so much in this set and it comes with a little insert that describes what each thing in the set is for. I loved the wide variety of blending tools (eye shadow applicators, pastel blenders, stumps) and sharpening implements that came in this kit.Some of the supplies were pretty great quality for a set at this price point. The paper pads were better than I expected, the pastel pencils were so fun to use, and the graphite and charcoal pencils and blending tools were on par with my expectations.The pastel sticks are messy, which I expected, but I had a hard time blending the different colors — even when using the tool provided for doing so. I’m not very experienced with pastels so this could be just me. Charcoal sticks worked well.Aside from the white charcoal pencils, my only issues with this kit were the craft knife (which felt too flimsy to cut much of anything) and the bag the set comes in (which is easy to carry and looks good but one of the straps that holds the supplies in the bag started fraying after I used the set for only a few hours). Still, the set is still worth the price overall in my opinion if you’re looking for budget options.

Love the drawing pencils and tools that come in the case. The sketch pads are quite small but they’re perfect for beginners or tinier sized art. The colors are limited but they’re great pigments.

Frankly, I bought this for a road trip, and wasn’t expecting a lot at this price point. It was a very pleasant surprise when I open this up.The case is great, and I will continue to use it and refill the art supplies when needed. I payed less for the whole kit than my friends paid for just a case.The art supplies were surprisingly good, not a dud among them. The pencils are very good, not quite the level of my high end pencils, but fairly close. They are soft core pencils.This would be a great kit for a beginner or someone who wanted a beater kit for a trip.
