I wanted to use a different word in the title but I didn’t want to get censored. This is a fantastic filter. Amazingly well-made and precision machine. I expect no less from this company at this point. They make extraordinarily well-made high-quality filters for about half the price of the expensive German ones. And they are every bit as good and this one is no exception. This is a variable neutral density filter which means you turn the wheel and it will get lighter or darker. It also uses a quarter stop softening effect. This is a very subtle effect which can add some light to your photos without harming sharpness. I love the quarter mist. The wheel actually has a tiny little throw knob to allow you to turn the filter more easily and it turns buttery smooth. This is precision machining at its best. What a fantastic filter. The glass is optically perfect and the effects generate new artifacts. Absolutely beautiful .

I recall when the only option was to buy a set of ND filters to address cutting down the light outdoors while still achieving a low depth of field for certain photography and filmography goals. With separate filters you multiply the chance of a smudge or dust being introduced to your lens. With a single ND variable filter, you simply adjust as needed so you can still have a decent shutter speed and be able to customize your depth of field without having to push your ISO to noise introducing high levels.
