Easy to use in your hands. Easy to take apart and clean. Does not bother my arthritis compared to other shears I have tried to use. I would recommend. The spring assist makes a difference.

The first set I received the locking mechanism did not work - that was a definite safety hazard. I did an immediate exchange. The locking mechanism worked on the new set. I wanted to love these as my old poultry cutters were looking a bit haggard - the lack of quality control on the first set made me take a critical eye. They are sharp and can handle cutting through just about anything (I tested cutting up a chicken and it did cut thru bone easily). I found that I kept slipping when my hands got greasy as there are no handle loops. There are so many gadgets on this set that safety is also an issue. You need to know exactly where you put them in the drawer as the fish scaler could cut you if you are rushing. The protective sheath is about as cheaply made and looking as it comes. It has a belt loop (not something I intend to use) but I never would anyway as it may last about 3 days of consistent use. Overall the shears are hefty, the knife (you have to separate to use) is sharp, and the fish scaler are a nice touch. I would say with a new sheath it would be great for the outdoors - it has a little too much going on for kitchen use, especially if you have kids in the house old enough to go through drawers but not enough to pay attention to what they are doing.

My other kitchen scissors were thrown away on accident. These things are crazy. Very heavy duty and will last a while. They come apart for easy cleaning. The only thing to watch out for is the center piece that can get rusty if you leave it in water. I always dry and put away after cleaning to prevent this.

I finally pulled this out to spatchcock a chicken. It made the job easy. Cut right through the backbone easily. I have other kitchen sheers that always hurt my hand and it was hard to cut through the bone. This made the job easy. Easy to clean. Dried it and put it away. Look forward to finding other uses. Wondering if it will cut through chicken leg bone for fricasee.

The box contained 1 - Tonkika bone cutting shears and a sheath. I liked they came with a sheath they can stay in while not being used and fit snuggly inside. I really like the spring assist for opening and being able to separate the blades easily for cleaning. The spring assist is a life saver when cutting a lot, so my hands did not cramp up. I did have to watch as the spring assist can push the shears open far enough for the blades to come apart. I slid the locking mechanism to keep them slightly closed when cutting and that solved it. The shears are strong and made of thick hard plastic handles that are shaped for a comfortable grip, and thick iron blades that are very sharp. They cut through leg bones with hardly any effort. I was unable to test out the fish scale scraping. I do believe they are somewhat expensive. I am very satisfied with this product.
