The Banjo Twin is designed to reproduce the true banjo sound with very natural tone quality and with very little effect on the acoustic tone. The Banjo Twin works well in passive mode, especially if acoustic amps are used. If a preamp should be necessary, we recommend our Pure Preamp.

This pickup does give you some resonant tone but at the cost of sounding good. K&K transducer ribbon is the way to go for a banjo. I used it for one show with an LR Baggs venue Di. I couldn't get it to sound good out front or in the monitors. Serious feedback issues unless I pulled out all of 500, 830ish, and 1.3k which makes the banjo sound more like a guitar than a banjo.

Works well. It did make a difference in the "unplugged" sound of my banjo otherwise I would have rated it higher. I guess that's understandable since it applies to the skin. Works well on stage when directly amplifying my banjo and sounds good. If you want the sound to be more pure then use a mic. It's just in my particular situation a mic is cumbersome and in the way since I play multiple instruments on stage and have to make quick changes.

Much more volume through the pa system. Not happy with the change in sound acoustically

Great pickup. Especially if you're using a pre-amp to boost or Eq to your liking.Placement should be very close to the recommended placement in the instructions. If you want to experiment, use double sided scotch tape to test before using the foam spacers that come with it.Used it on a Goldtone BT-2000Very simple. Fairly natural sound. Adhesive holds up extremely well.

This is a terrific pickup! I'm using it to amplify a Deering banjo ukulele. It was unbelievably easy to install has a really good sound. If there is any kind of a drawback, it would have to be that the sanded little bit on the hot side. That can be taken care of with a little EQ-ing.

I installed this yesterday in my Jameson banjo. I like it, it's a very natural sound (at least through the small Park--by Marshall--amp I put it through) but I have to agree with the person who said the "lock tite" mounting was iffy. I found I needed to use wire as well to anchor the jack in place or it continually fell off and was dangling. Not something you want to have happen at a gig. The setup instructions were a little on the lean side as well. But again, other than that, the sound is great. Oh, by the way, if your banjo head is the least bit opaque, you WILL see the pickup through the front. That's no big deal for me.

Sounded great at the first gig - finally a pick-up I liked! I didn't plug in again or change anything until the next gig. I plugged it in for sound check and it sounded horrible - fuzzy and distorted. I tried different patch cables and DIs, but to nothing worked. Seems like bad wiring in the jack. Will be sending this back and continuing the search.

This thing sounds better in my Goodtime than the Fishmann Rare Earth. At least to my ear. Easy set up, especially since unlike the rare earth and some other pickups, it doesn't require mounting on the coordinating rod. All wires are really well insulated, so I haven't had any problems with shorting or losing connections. Sound is realistic, and doesn't tend to overcompensate on the lower or higher end like other pickups tend to do.I play in a folk band that requires me to amplify often and I have tried upwards of 5 different pickets before I finally picked up the banjo twin. I've had more sound guys ask me what type of pickup I'm using with this unit than ever before.
