This tipper has a nice hearty balanced weighted feel, gives a good thud and makes triples and rolls a dream!

What I received is a medium-sized and medium weight tipper. It is solid but not dense. The narrow part of the shaft is just a little thinner than a Sharpie marker. In length, mine is 8.5 inches. It is balanced. Because of the size and slope type, the ends do not register has heavy in any way. But again, they are not light either. If you don't yet have a preference, I'd say it is a general all-purpose tipper that can be used on any drum.

Okay, I only have three tippers but this one is my favorite. Why? I'm fairly heavy on beats. This tipper helps me, may be different for you, to go easy.

I love the sound I get from my double skin Bodhran with this. It's the perfect weight and size for quick playing. I only wish it had a notch or bump in the middle for a better grip, but even still, it's definitely worth the money.

Just starting out on the bodhran, this is definitely an improvement over the cheap tipper that came with my cheap drum. I half-expected my playing skills to improve as soon as I used this tipper and that's exactly what happened; it's well balanced and allows me to play with a more steady beat. Looks nice. About the same color as a Guinness. I wanted to do something to get a firmer grip on it as it slips around some; got some 2 inch (black) non-skid adhesive pads, trimmed a little off two sides and put it on, helps alot.

This tipper was a great price, looks and feels nice. However, the ends aren't as nicely rounded as shown in the photo. I almost thought I received the wrong item. Not sure if the harder edges will wear my bodhran down more (hope not). At the low price it's not really worth sending it back for a refund, but I am a bit disappointed. The tipper is a good thickness and weight, if it had been finished more like in the photo it would be perfect.

Everyone loves a good tipper, and this one is great. It's of a suitable length and heft for a beginner, or intermediate player, some pros prefer this style as well. Made from high quality hardwood, with the slightest care it should last a lifetime. Well finished, it feels good in the hand, and doesn't cost all that much. You really can't ask for more.
