Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice for Asian vehicles.

Did some research and apparently this is pretty common, bolt that sits on top of the threads is to soft and ends up walking eventually to the point of complete failure.... Not cool. This strut had about 9k miles on it... Now I'm going to have to check all my other struts

Do not purchase these as a replacement for a SELF LEVELLING strut. I was forced to do so since I couldn't find any self levelling ones, but once I got this particular model, it turned out to be a little short and this led the car to sit lower than usual/designed. It could not be used that way so I had to return it.

This review is being posted after 40,000 miles of use. The struts are working fine, no leakage and no problems. These are a good OEM replacement. I don't notice any difference between these and the original factory struts that were replaced (prior to their failure that is). The factory struts went 160,000 miles, and we'll see how long these KYB's last.

Used on my 2004 Subaru Forester along with Camel lifting springs. A noticeably firmer, but also MUCH more rugged setup which has responded well in the limited off-roading I've done since the install. Good on country lanes and fire access roads, but tolerable on city streets. Pretty much the ideal ride, as far as I'm concerned.
