The KYB MonoMax is a heavy duty monotube shock absorber that provides the most handling, control and durability of any KYB shock; and it’s just for trucks. The MonoMax’s tough design automatically adjusts to driving conditions with fade-free performance. The KYB MonoMax has an outstanding reputation for vehicles that do real work, go off-road, tow a trailer or haul heavy loads. It uses a work-ready, zinc-coated steel piston ring and includes an off-road dust boot.

I use my little Taco to haul my tools around when I do construction, remodels and repairs. So with a few hundred pounds in the back they ride perfect. They restored my factory ride height. I have "train on rails " stability in corners. I consider these a 20 to 30 % increase in performance to my original equipment shocks. When my truck is empty is rides like a body on frame import truck from the factory. By that I mean to say brisk, stout and staccato. I think these are a great improvement, value and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

2001 Toyota Tacoma, Pre-runner, Standard Cab with a topper that adds 125-150 LBS.. The shocks are now 5 years old. Found the ride to be a little stiffer than the original shocks but are holding up well. Measured the rear bumper height before and after installation and the measurement was the same. Chocked the front tires and jacked the rear of the truck up for added working room. Installed jack stands under the frame for "SAFETY" and removed old shocks. Installed the new shocks, top bolt first and found the shocks were very hard to compress by hand to align the bottom bolt. I was able to jack the rear of the truck up even more ( STILL USING THE JACK STANDS FOR "SAFETY" ) and that allowed the installation of the bottom bolt and with the shocks extended I secured the lower end the shock boot. Removed the jack stands, lowered the truck, removed the chocks. I would recommend and buy these shocks in the future. Have a good day!

Super firm. So much so that I am pulling them off and going with Toyota factory shocks. Installed them on the back of my 2003 Tacoma 4x4 quad cab. I don't see how these would be applicable to my truck when the ride is so bouncy that your back hurts but if that is what you are after, I imagine they are for you. The truck would probably ride great with 400+lbs in the bed but empty, pretty hard ride.

I like my vehicles mostly stock, no lifts, no crazy aftermarket stuff. I researched a lot to see what people said and most people said these shocks were too firm/stiff, I disagree. I put these on my 96 reg. cab 4x4 2.7 toyota tacoma and I am highly satisfied. My shocks were shot, these are nice, and great quality shocks. They ride awesome, pretty smooth, not jarring. I would recommend these to anyone.

The shocks themselves seem great-- improved ride and much firmer than the OEM shocks on my '02 Tacoma, which'd never been changed.Only complaint is that the shocks didn't come compressed with a band around them, requiring that I come up with some sort of scheme to hold them compressed while I installed them. I tied a butterfly knot in a 3/8" or so rope, compressed the shocks by pressing down on them, and then pinched the rope together with two fingers to keep the shock from expanding. This approach requires determination and patience, the price for which is one star off the rating.Overall, though, except for this installation glitch, which admittedly might have just been the pair I received (open box returns??), I think the shocks were a great improvement.I used the zip ties that came with them to secure the rubber protective boot. Hope that was correct as there were no instructions on the box or within it.

These are great shocks for those not looking to invest the $ in Bilsteins, but wanting a heavy duty shock. Just Suspension beat everyone on the price for these KYBs. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they arrived in the flimsy product boxes taped together. Luckily the shocks weren't damaged, even though the boxes were ripped open during shipping. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase.

Bought a used Tacoma, and the shocks that were on it were shot, so much so that driving the truck felt dangerous. Picked up a set of these, and an hour later, the truck is driving like new. A great product at a great price.
