We gave these out as goody bag gifts and the kids loved them. They are pretty bright, so the kids played with them as it got dark outside. Unfortunately, 2 of the ones in a pack didn’t work at all. That’s the reason for 3/5

For the price these were perfect for my 4 year olds to add to their sword collections.

We have had several lightsabers and they’ve been replaced because the kids go a little too far with them. We can pretty much rely on the fact that they are going to be beat up on. The lights are fun but it’s the sound effects it puts out is what makes the lightsabers realistic. So the expectation is it makes the whirring sound when it gets waved around and the clashing sound when it contacts a surface. This lightsaber adds to that by giving you a selection of colors to choose from to light it up. You can select one color or have it cycle through several colors which is something I haven’t seen from other lightsabers. The only issue I have with it is that the sound effect isn’t motion operated. When you’re waving it around you get the clashing sound and when you hit a surface you get the whirring sound. That inconsistency lost it for the kids so it’s been sitting on the shelf while the go back to their other lightsabers.Cool looking but just not as fun.

Plastic can break easily if having an actual sword fight, but this is a fun little toy for the price. Light is not super bright, but easily seen. My 4 year old loved it.

For any child interested in Star Wars, Harry Potter or similar fantasies, this light saber is a "MUST." Our Grandson received a similar one for Christmas. He actually brought it along when traveling to relatives' homes for the celebrations and proudly showed it off to anyone who would listen. This saber is made of soft and non-toxic plastic. The manufacturer was able to dim the lighting some to help preserve children's vision. The saber changes colors and sounds as the child fights battles. The light & sounds are powered by 3 AAA batteries (not included, however, the set does include a tiny Phillips-head screwdriver to make installation easier). There are 10 different configurations of sound and colored lighting. (A small instruction page is included in the plastic that the saber is shipped in inside the box; don't discard prior to reading)! Lighting can be turned off completely or changed to constant or flickering modes; sound can be turned off, if need be. The saber can extend from 17" to 32". It's relatively small when compressed. My only concern is that the plastic may not be durable long-term. It's hard to tell until the saber has been "loved" quite a bit.If your child is interested in such items, having two on hand may be a good idea so they will have an extra when a friend comes to visit. The price point allows for that. It will keep them entertained (away from electronics) for a long time.
