Never was a fan of Ludwig until I played this Snare Drum! You Have to try for your self to understand what I'm talking about. Too put it in perspective for you I own a Pearl Reference & DW Collectors series and it's sounds just as amazing!

This Ludwig Supralite 6X13 steel snare possesses all the characteristics that have made steel shelled snares my favorite of all snare drum types. I'd never considered the thirteen inch diameter until I heard this drum. This size takes all the desirable aspects of a fourteen inch drum and supercharges them. The crack from this drum is hair raising, and the ring is well controlled and short lived. It is easy to tune, and does not require tight tensions to achieve the desired tuning. This is not a piccolo-sounding drum. Instead, it has the depth of tone one would expect from a fourteen incher, but with accentuated, and smoother, hi frequency overtones - the very tones necessary to make the drum cut thru the noise of a band. The only possible concern for reliability is the snare strainer, as the construction is not confidence inspiring. Only time will tell. If you like metal snare drums, you may like this one even more than traditional sizes.
