This item works well. It came packaged a bit oddly - The padding inside the box was only present on the bottom, and that bottom piece had a hole in it. So, there was hardly anything protecting this thing bouncing around in transit. Upon inspection, the handle is a rubber-like material, which is very grippy when dry, but when it becomes wet it is a little harder to turn. The ability to turn the handle is very difficult, and feels like you're trying to drag a cinderblock thru sand. It is very rough, but once you get past the half-way point it snaps over and locks in. The finish is decent, and doesn't have any major issues. One of the complaints that I have regarding the fit and finish is that on the handle there is a roll pin pushed thru, for the handle attachment - One side of that roll pin is beautifully round, and the other side is crushed to bits like someone wedged a mini screwdriver in there and went to town on it with a hammer. I would like to see the handle be a bit longer, and extend out to the bottom of the screw holes on the top plate. As built currently when you grab the handle you are only able to get your thumb's first digit, and the second digit of your index finger on the device to turn it. If you have any type of disability, physically or muscularly, you probably won't be able to turn the knob without a great deal of difficulty. The mechanism is very stiff. I have not tested the load capacity (because I have no way to) but I can confirm that it lifts magnetic objects well, and has a fair bit of strength behind it.

Depending on the application you are using it’s excellent. I purchased this to hold metal to avoid hurting my hands and worked great. Smaller than expected so maybe they have a bigger size I’d recommend

I like most things about this, but when I got it I found that the photo I used to decide was of the JF model with the flanges. Those are designed to work with 3/4" stock which gives much more versatility when making jigs.
