I got this "Mandark Car Compass, Adjustable Dashboard Vehicle Direction Navigation Ball" to try. This compass is compact and easy to install onto a car's dash with the adhesive included. The compass shows you the direction without any power source needed. For the price, this is a very inexpensive car gadget. The direction is clear and easy to read. Recommended.

A compass that shows me the direction I'm coming from isn't what I was expecting. I thought I'd get a compass that shows me where I'm going, since that's the reason you buy a compass. Useless to me, but maybe a gift idea for that hard to buy for time traveller in my life.

It's only about 2" across on a side, which is fine if that's what you're expecting. The inner ball also doesn't turn completely smoothly, so it can be kind of jumpy. The directionality appears to be accurate. The biggest flaw is that in the middle of it, there is an arrow with N and S ends (arrow pointing to N), but it is actually inside the outer set of larger letters, and reversed from how it should be. So the big indicator shows you S, which means S is behind you, and the tip of the arrow (which says N) is also pointing at you. The tiny bubbles at the apex of the dome are also annoying.

This compass works accurately and is a great companion for your dashboard. It comes with a little sticky pad and so far it's sticking well on the dashboard. I recommend it!

Admittedly, I totally got this for nostalgic reasons... my grandparents used to have on of these in their car and I used to love it. This one is clearly labeled and easy to read. My only issue is that it seems to be a little slow to respond to a change in position, but eventually it will do what it needs to do. Lots of fun for kids in the car if they are paying attention to maps while you are driving.
