I like homebrewing, for wine I usually use my Portuguese floor corker, but before I had that I used to rent a manual bottle corker much like this one from a local wine, beer and cheese supply store. When I saw this here I had to try it out; it looked like a great deal and having an extra corker when the wine is ready to be bottled is a GoodThing ! It bites if something breaks and you have to scramble to get a replacement -- and it cuts down the time in processing 26-30 bottles if someone else is helping with another corker. The shipment arrived in great shape in a flat box containing the double lever corker, 30 #8 corks, 3 different colored stacks of 10 bottle top heat shrink sleeves with a metal foil seal on each. Something I wasn't expecting, but happy to see was that included was also a set of four extra bottle holder sleeves to protect the bottle neck when the corker grips onto it. The corker already has these sleeves attached, but this is a spare set in case the existing ones break or become damaged -- I love that. The corker s simple to use, place it atop you bottle, slide a cork into the cork receptacle on the side of the corker then spread the levers out and then down and with enough force, your bottle will be corked! Grab the next bottle and repeat until all your bottles are corked. Now, I'd be lying if I told you it's EASY to cork bottles using this device -- it does take some strength, but this form of corker generally does -- you won't be getting your 9 year old to help you cork with it. It does take strength, but you get used to the leverage needed and it isn't so bad.I tested things out with one of my bottles, corking it up. It did great, the bottle felt secure while using it -- it didn't feel like it wanted to slip or that the neck would break __ I've used some that felt scary, this one, happily did not feel scary and it corked without much fuss.I'm looking forward to using this alongside my other corker on my next batch of wine.

Check before use! Before I fixed the neck griping arms the press would pop off as the cork left the compression sleeve causing corking to fail with no way to further insert the cork while at the same time destroying the plastic protectors over those little arms."Fortunately" the metal which is used is ridiculously soft and was very easy to bend to where I needed it to properly grip the bottle neck. Once "fixed" the press worked properly but does a fair bit of damage to the cork given the small size of the rammer - I'll probably try to make a shoe to fix this but at the premium being asked for this kit I'd really like to not have to fix it before use at all.Note that the #8 corks which come with this pack are agglomerated (like how OSB sheets are fused bits of scrap). If you plan to bottle age and want micro oxidation do your research before assuming these corks are good for the job. These are for preserving a wine for only a couple of years, not for long term aging.

Standard double-lever wine bottle corker and 30 2.2x4.4 cm wine corks (aka #8), plus 30 PVC shrink caps in black, red, and goldI have a floor corker as well as a hand corker and wanted an extra hand corker so when I have help we can get the bottling done. These hand corkers, do require some leverage but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy. The hand corkers come in particularly helpful when I'm doing sample bottling and need to cork either small bottles that are like 350ml vs standard 750ml or larger bottles or really high neck bottles that may not fit under my floor corker.Always an essential tool to have on hand and the price seems to be the going rate +/-PS in all my reviews I like to use a ruler so you see the scale / size of the actual item

I don’t make my own wine, but I have several friends who do. They usually make far more than they can easily bottle, so this gives me an opportunity to acquire more of what they make.I also have another immediate use for this simple and well made device. I buy certain wines in big jugs, and keeping 4 liters of wine fresh is a challenge. This manually operated corker, along with the included corks and seals, allows me to decant those jugs in to bottles, and r sure that the dine remains fresh for a considerable amount of time.Several ways to use this, and highly recommended.
