This is only one tape for almost $20 no matter what the product description says about $4.98 per tape. Intentionally misleading.

Used with a 30 year old sony deck, the outcome was not what I expected. I had some equally old maxell tape that I tried and it sounded pretty bad but also the way I remember cassettes sounding, (that cassette sound?),. Thought I'd give new stock a try, (haven't purchased cassette tape in decades!),. It was shockingly good! Many folks are looking for the cassette lo-fi thing these days. I really didn't hear it that much at all. Yes, a slight roll-off of bass, smoothing of top end, (to be expected), and an ever so slight "glue" if one is listening closely and a/b'ing two versions, (which I did), . To be fair, the machine used has a lot to do with the outcome. Also what's going in, (here; 96khz digital),. Some cassette tape machines will saturate the tape more than others. Our older sony doesn't seem to want to do that very much at all. But that's o-k, because what it does is still fantastically usable for my needs and a lot of fun to experiment with. I'll be getting more for sure. Very happy with the end results - not what I was expecting or remember at all, (perhaps our ears are in worse shape after all these years?,lol),. Cheers.

I received the package and it had some kind of coating on it I figured okay it's just on the outside I opened it up and it's all over the cassette and the case. Considering it was not cheap this is very disconcerting getting it in the shape.

(The Best of the Best ) Maxell High Bias XLll-S 100 vs. TDK SA-X 100.......I bought these audio cassette tapes and conducted a test to see which is better and this is my opinion / findings :- (a) Both tape shells are solidly built and the mechanism is superior in quality. The mechanism in the TDK is slightly better, the Maxell tape shell is more solid. (b) The TDK tape shell looks better but attracts fingerprints. (c) On performance, both give excellent sound reproduction, bass is solid and the mids and highs come thru clear and strong, there's no way to distort these tapes, period. No actual readings were taken but as far as I can tell, there is no real difference in sound quality. ( Debatable ) I personally think that it depends on your tape deck and personal preference. I used to have issues with maxell ur 90 minutes normal bias. I've tossed a few that stopped and got eaten. I keep the tape heads clean. My Sony tape deck seems to work well with all brands. Outside of metal bias, these are the best cassette tapes available, I love them both and these are what I'll be using from now on !
