I can't fit my 12" head djembe into this stand. The only way I could use it was to attach the legs to the outside of the ring instead.

If you’re going to create a product, especially at this price by this brand name, you shouldn’t make the customer have to rely on reviews to figure out how the thing works. It’s a great stand but I could only use it because of others’ detailed instructions. I almost sent it back before I understood that it was the spacers that make it adjustable for the diameter of the djembe and those spacers are removable. My partner assembled it for me so I didn’t see how it was constructed. Come on, Meinl, I love your products but please respect your customers and include instructions

I have bought this item 2 previous time and they work perfectly. This one, the bolts that hold it together are 1/4 inch shorter than they should be, making the whole unit unstable, the threads just barely catch the wing nut, so much so that the included washer couldn't be used. I spent $9 at the hardware store to rig it up so my drum wouldn't fall during a performance. The bolts that come with it are metric, so now I have wing nuts that are smaller and harder to tighten. No response from the company, temped to return it just for spite. My 2 previous stands still work great 60 performances later. I hope to hear from them to get the correct ones. I would have bought another , but now I may shop another brand. Any ideas on solid Djembe stands the come up to waist high.? These do with the extenders, I like to play standing!

I'm using this stand with a key-tuned Remo 16" djembe, an African rope-tuned 14" djembe, and an LP World Beat Percussion Caribe Conga. I took some photos showing each drum in the stand with two legs at the lowest position and the third at the highest position to have maximum tilt. In this configuration, the stand is still solid while playing. In the photos, the stand has no spacers for both djembes, and all three spacers are used for the caribe conga (so the rubber supports are closer together for the smaller diameter drum).Since a lot of people (including myself) were disappointed that there were no instructions for assembly, I posted a close-up photo of one of the connection points with a spacer. The order is leg --> spacer --> ring --> washer --> wing nut.I love it that I can sit right up against the drum with this stand. I can't do that with basket-style stands. It's definitely solid. The djembe doesn't slide around at all while playing. The stand itself may wobble a bit, especially if the legs are adjusted to a high setting. A good remedy for this is to put your feet on two of the feet for the stand, and it helps stabilize things a bit more.I thought the stand would cradle the drum, but it doesn't really do that for large djembes. Despite that, it's still solid. For large rope-tuned djembes (14" head in my case), the rubber supports will be in contact with the ropes, fyi. For that reason, I wish the ring for the stand was larger so the supports could be spread out enough to be higher up on the drum and in between the ropes. Smaller drums will fit better, where the supports should be able to go in between the ropes and not interfere with tuning. For the rope-tuned djembe, I noticed that the ropes cut into the rubber on the supports more than a smooth drum body surface would. I might wrap some felt around the rubber supports to protect them. Another reviewer said the rubber also makes black marks on the drum body, so felt would help prevent that, too, although I don't know how it would affect stability while playing.Overall, this stand is great. I recommend it.

Fits Remo 14" key tuned djembe beautifully. Remo key tuned 10" also fits but stand looks rather outsized for it. Anyway point is, the 8 year old son can now have the enjoyment of playing his "giant djembe" the like of which no other 8 year old has and I live without fear of the drum falling on the kitten because even my children could not knock this stand over.

I have a Remo Key Tunable 16"X27" djembe. This phenomenal stand is rock solid. It's adjusted to its lowest heigth/setting and still leaves about 4"+ inches of clearance between my djembe and the ground (i.e., the top of the skin sits at +/- 32", a very comfortable, if not perfect, sitting heigth) allowing for a booming bass and incredibly sharp pitched strikes. The stand is superbly engineered. I've been a professional percussionist and drummer for more than 40 years. I've owned and played with tens of different sets of hardware (Ludwig, Rogers, Yamaha, Pearl, Gretch, LP, etc.) and I'm very pleased with the quality and affordability of this stand. Congratulations Meinl, I'm a new fan!!!
