They’re rugged but the color tends to fade. I like these shorts a lot and they fit well.

I am having such a hard time finding shorts that fit me. I have VOLCOM shorts. The 36 is too big and the 34, I can’t even buttoned. I tried Amazon Basic. The 34 fit my waist, but a bit tight when I sit. They’re wearable. The Columbia ROC shorts waist fit great. There is a lot more room in the seat too, which makes them more comfortable when sitting. I will not be running these through a complete dryer cycle. I do not want them to shrink. Th fabric is nice. It feels light can durable. I will update 🔜

Great appearance and fit... I went with the shorter length leg and they look a whole bunch better than they appear on the model in their photos. I have found these shorts to be very comfortable to wear, they are also very durable... great short for a casual weekend get together or for wearing while you do yard work!!

Quality control seems inconsistent - the waist size seems only ball park - I've been wearing Columbia Roc shorts for more then ten years, and prefer the older fabric to the newer stretch. I ordered three pairs, all the same size, only one pair fits me well - one is way too large, one is too tight. Go figure...

As other reviewers have said, these shorts fit kind of slim around your thighs. Some like it, some don't. I do. I like that look but it's important to note I wouldn't call these "skinny", just slimmer than baggier shorts that look borderline like "skorts" from the side, which is an image I DON'T like. Other than that they work really well. The side pocket is very functional, fitting my iPhone 6 with protective case perfectly, though it does stick out a bit but I'm sure that helps with removal. The fact that it's not a spacious cargo pocket is a really good thing because honestly what else are you going to want clanking around in a spacious cargo pocket besides something heavy? Furthermore, the waist size is true to fit and it has a zippered security pocket.The only semi downside I can think of is that the back pockets are Velcro, which I'm not crazy about but I think it's better than a snap or a button through a slit as well.
