This was for my son who needed a cup mute. He already has a 2-tone mute and this one has the extra insert (of felt-like material). The mute sticks in well, is well made and seems sturdy, you can get a variety of tones based not just on how far it is pushed in or out, but on if the insert is in. It works fine as a regular mute, and it fits in his case.My son isn't advanced enough to really show off what the mute can do, so this will be able to be with him for a long time (if he takes reasonable care of it).A bit expensive ($65 when we got it) but much nicer than most of the other mutes we've seen and we are happy with it.
